Bristol City fan's column: Mr Lansdown please take note! Your loyalty to Lee Johnson is misguided

    Lee Johnson and Steve Lansdown

After Tuesday night's defeat to Aston Villa, Lee Johnson said that "There's no getting away from it, Saturday against Burton is now a must-win game. A draw will not be good enough". So what happens now? We did draw and it wasn't good enough. We have dropped into the relegation zone and I honestly cannot see that with the current set up we will get out of it come May.

We have won 2 out of the last 20 games, losing 11 out of the last 15 and earning just 10 points out of the last 60. I honestly cannot think of any other manager who would stay in his job with statistics that are so bad. If you then consider the money that has been spent and the players that are at his disposal it makes it even more incredulous.

I know of a number of fans who have said that they will not be going to Ashton Gate whilst Lee Johnson remains in charge. Some of these fans have been following City home and away for 40+ years. Mr Lansdown please take note!! Your loyalty to Lee Johnson is admirably but it is sadly misguided.

All of your hard work over the last few years in providing the funds to reach the Championship and to build our fantastic stadium will be wasted, as we are sleepwalking into League One. We are losing fans now and will undoubtedly lose more if we get relegated and the stadium will feel empty.

I was at Newcastle and at Aston Villa and the fans were brilliant. Throughout both games they sang their hearts out and encouraged the team forward, even when things were going against us and despite poor second half performances. We received many plaudits from both the Geordies and Villans for our support. Let's not forget, these are fans that are used to the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool fans.

It seems that every time we take a step forward we take two steps back. Do we really look like we are capable of staying in this league? Of course things could have been different if Lee Tomlin's shot had gone in rather than hitting the bar, if Aaron Wilbraham's disallowed goal had been given and if Lee Tomlin had scored his penalty. However, it's all shoulda, woulda, coulda, the facts are you make your own luck and Burton could also point out a couple of good chances that they had, especially one from Lloyd Dyer when it seemed impossible not to score.

This WAS a must win game and the team did start brightly but I don't think we played with the intensity and tempo needed in our position. Once again our second half performance left a lot to be desired.

Something needs to change, the constant changing of players and formations just show that the Manager is lost. There is of course no guarantee that a change in Manager will make a difference but you only have to look at the likes of Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers to see what effect it can have. Claudio Ranieri lost his job despite achieving possibly the most unlikely of feats ever when winning the Premiership for Leicester last season. Craig Shakespeare has won two games in a row. At Ewood Park, Tony Mowbray has won 7 points out of 9 for Blackburn which has seen them switch places with City in the relegation zone.

I actually think it may be too late even if a new Manager / Head Coach is appointed. In truth we all know that if a change is made we won't get a proven Manager in, we will go cheap and for someone that is happy to do what the owner wants.

I hope we don't get yet another dabacle handed out to us, this man Johnson is making our football club a total embarrassment, we are a laughing stock and it's time it ended.

Just had a conversation with an ex player, he said that none of the players or staff like Johnson and they are shocked he is still there.

Not to discredit you, but I 100% don't believe the above to be honest. That's not to say he doesn't need to go obviously. But as for the whole playing squad and staff hating him? Bollocks imo

Never said hate, just dislike him. Only passing on what I was told by a genuine source.

Hardly going to say we hate the t---er. I am sure Flint will be having a party if he goes. If reports on OTIB are correct in that Pemberton has been given the bullet and Millen is coming in to support LJ, I just totally despair.

as the old saying goes, believe half of what you see, and nothing of what you hear, but I suppose its inevitable considering the mess we"re in, and now we are at the stage where the inevitable must happen, preferably soon.

Nonsense mate. The amount of BS that comes out when things are going wrong is insane. Sad, sad people make things up and naive people lap it up.

Believe it or not, there will be 1 or 2 players in the squad who are actually professional.

'If reports on OTIB are correct in that Pemberton has been given the bullet and Millen is coming in to support LJ, I just totally despair'.

F*ck me gently, please God this is not true.

The vitriol and unrest at Ashton Gate is unreal.
Fans talking about banners, protests, petitions and boycotts.
I said from LJ's appointment that it would end horribly but I never thought it would get this bad.
The volcano will erupt, probably the next time an opponent scores first at AG.
And when it happens I will join in, I can't sit on my hands any longer.
I can't believe how depressed I feel over this saga, I'm fed up to the back teeth with everything BCFC.

    Cheers Steve.

You reap what you sow Steve and have shown your tremendous aptitude for destroying people's dreams. Nobody will ever believe a word you say again through that smug grin.

Well lets hope the volcano is one of support for the team ... its one thing having no support for the manager and ANOTHER not having support for the team .... prospect of any decent player coming here = zero
who would want to come to a team that turns on their players via their manager/bad luck/ miskick / or sheer brilliance ( allowing for the fact of course it may have been a defenders error, which would really rub it in) when they concede a goal! because that is what will happen....

I really do not think SL destroys peoples dreams, and to be honest his facial features may support a "smug grin" but I know of 2 peeps that also are afflicted with a facial expression that looks like they constantly smile or "are smug looking"

I think we have to worry more about players not coming to Ashton Gate because SL has a history of hiring poor managers which leads to times like these. Knowing the supporters really believe in their team, and have shown that loyalty by showing up for long away trips in droves, would make me at least want to look at the possibility. The main problem we have is SL and not our supporters, bless their cotton socks for putting up with the dross coming from Lansdown. If nothing else this continuing debacle is proving beyond any shadow of a doubt where our single problem lies. Wake up man.

    Course it ain't true.

Just like how it isn't true that LJ will be gone at 5.30pm, that there was a meeting with him being sacked Saturday evening with Pardew lined up (thanks for yet another 100% reliable sauce RR), and that every single member of the staff and players hates LJ.

Wish he was gone mind you.

Ashton Gate needs an early spring clean, so bring someone in.
