And I might shag the Minogue sister tonight, but we both know that isn't going to happen. I might end up with the Minger sisters. If we can get the Hoff and Cattermole back then my enthusiasm will grow, we need Cattermole's drive and inspiration. I reckon the heads wouldn't have dropped so quickly if he had the captains armband on yesterday, he wouldn't let them and we've missed his leadership on the field.
Which one? Do you know Danny used to go out with a local chav, I used to live quite near to him... never discount yourself with her. Kylie's probably unobtainable tbf.
Considering that I am in Nigeria I reckon I've got a better chance of pulling the Minger sisters mate.
Naivety there mate - Ashley, as you say yourself, is only bothered about finance - as are most millionaire/billionaire businessmen! Other than the bold sentence, I can't argue with you - you're in an "ideal world" scenario if you think Ashley gives a damn about backlash from you lot!
It's a tough league to get out of and clubs are now starting to spend big. If Short stays you will drift into the mire further. If he goes you have a chance of coming back. Sadly it boils down to investment.
A bit like Bournemouth, Burnley who produced teams of triers at little cost, then again Brighton and Huddersfield have spent big as well. Team comes first every time.
Quite frankly, if relegation happens, I'd rather see us recruit astutely, getting people with the right attitudes and the right knowledge, than fling money at it.
Well it doesn't matter how i look at it i think we are down but i also think we should keep Moyes give him a whole close season to get some sort of his own team together and then give him the first five games to hopefully get 10 to 11 points if he ****s up then get rid quick, who to come in god knows lets just hope there's somebody canny available then.
Couldn't agree more. I was resigned to relegation in 2014 when Poyet produced his so called miracle and our flirtation with disaster has just continued via another three managers. As a point about lack of investment I believe there was an unspent twenty three million in the January window. Apart from Ulloa I will take some unconvincing that we were as inactive as people do. We have wasted so much money in the past on big buys that have just not worked without a cohesive team plan and we seemed to be just following what successful teams were doing in the hope something would rub off. We have to accept that we are just not attractive to players any more and the way ahead is not big buys. Bony was a classic example of that, choosing Stoke over us, but he is now sidelined there.
I could write for pages about the things I would do differently if I owned the club but one thing I would like to see the club do is make us attractive to players. The most obvious way is through success, the second most obvious is by offering massive wages but there are other things that could make a difference. Other clubs play on their history to create mythologies and make themselves more attractive to fans and to players. I know some people will see this as airy-fairy nonsense but it really happens and it really works. Look at West Ham and all that 'last season at the Boleyn' guff. The media and the fans were lapping it up and its raised their profile. And apart from having a few internationals in the 60s they're not a successful club. We could and should do something similar because at the minute, we're just a non-entity as far as the rest of the world is concerned.
Think you're right about that and it's my impression that the club are trying to build a brand now. They seem to be bravely facing up to the mysteries of that internet thing for example.
Their does seem to be more effort in that department now. Thankfully. I'd like to see them really go for it with that.
I like what I've seen from them the branding is solid and it generally seems to be based around making the players seem likeable and building a relationship between the fans and the players which seems wise to me.
How about 'Last season before liquidation' Or 'Last season in red and white vertical stripes that are all evenly spaced and parallel'.
Agree with all of this. If you're able to compare your owner with ours then I feel sorry for you but it's still better than some clubs have got. I think both our owners thought it would be an easier ride than they have got and genuinely wanted to build a mid-table side with stability whilst keeping the fans on side. Gone pretty badly though. 42000 is just amazing given the ****e served up, people can talk about what a big club is and what good fans are but the truth is that the north-east fans are blindly loyal and even when we "walk out" before the end there's still more fans left in the seats after the 'exodus' than most clubs in our positions would have had at kick off.
We have been in worse binds than this and we have always survived. We can survive relegation without bother, and for all it will hurt it will give us a chance to stabilise. For all some on here choose to see us as how not to run a football club it is not for the want of trying to find success.
Hope you don't mind me having my threepenneth. Strikes me that we and Boro (wash your mouth out) are in a similar bind. Chairman who before the season started viewed the potential end of season consequences and decided to change the pin number. Boro have spent a nett 36 million, you have spent a nett 13 and we have spent a nett 9 million. Even if we had owners that were of a positive outlook and seemingly we haven't, though our circumstances are even worse, the next problem is attracting players to our clubs. Location, location, location!!!! The BIG problem is, that of you go down yes you have parachute payments and the euphoria of potentially getting back up... BUT... in the meantime, the clubs already in the Premiership are only having to strengthen in certain areas of the pitch and able to pay decent money, or adding to a squad. The Championship is dire and when you are promoted gain you look at your squad and see you have fallen another year behind and just to survive you don't need one or three players you need 9 or 10. Getting them in is one thing, but you're on the merry go round of Chairmen who look at the season end... which takes me nicely back to my opening gambit. Still think Palace are in trouble and Bournemouth too... we live in hope..
