We could probably get him on a free, but it's his wages that would be an issue, he's got two years to run on Premier League money with the Mackems, so I can only see a subsidised loan.
Kilgallon is another one who is no better than what city have. Spend the money further up the pitch now. Both Dudgeon and Evans can play centre half if the need arose.
From whats been written only Hull Swansea and Norwich got permission to speak to Ayala. City acted way to slow and should have had this deal wrapped up before the end of July. All parties were in Hull on 23rd July and the fee should have been agreed then and there. The only defence to City and Ayala could be that DA agent had alot to do with the final outcome. Norwich only came into the frame this week though. Whatever the reason it shows City really took far to long to get this deal done.
Cannot agree with that at all. Its now time to forget the transfer market for now and get a couple of wins in the bank. Spend less time booing and hissing and more time supporting the lads. See what becomes available towards the end of August when players and agents get nervous as the window starts to close. Plus the loan market has yet to arrive. Remember last season ? Gerrard and Ayala arrived in sept, Minnone after that, Guzan after that. Bet NP has his loan targets so we shall have to be patient. OLI still has to come back as well so its far to early to panic.
He wouldn't cost us a million. I don't really know where you're getting a figure of £23K a week for the reserve centre halves (should we sign Kilgallon) to be honest. We only made the bid when Liverpool lowered their valuation - had we tried to sign him a month ago, it would have cost us well over £1m. Even then other clubs would have been sniffing around, so there was nothing we could do to stop him going to a bigger club in the Prem.
23k is cos Mcshane is on 13 grand a week. So you must be expecting Kilgallon to be on at least 10 grand wouldnt you say? As Hobbs and Chester are our first choice CB's then thats how i come to 23 grand a week for 2 reserves.
Nonsense, we tried to buy him the week the window opened, you can't blame the club for Liverpool demanding twice what anyone was will to pay.
I see what you're saying. Would we pay £10K a week to Kilgallon? If we were to sign him you'd think it would have to be a subsidised loan, with Sunderland still paying the majority of his wage. I think Macca is on more than that, but don't quote me on it because I'm not sure at all.
Regarding the Hobbs and Chester debate...we've played 1 game with our preffered back four and conceded 1 goal that lets be honest was a cracking finish rather than a defensive howler. The Macclesfield game was a bit of a disaster but we weren't the only team dumped out by a lower league team. I'm willing to give it 8 games before I make a firm judgement on any player and the team as a whole.
Nonsense. Liverpool only ever wanted a million quid for Ayala and thats cheap for a player of his quality. City could have done the deal and wrapped it all up quickly and quietly before anyone else get got a look in. But from whats been said this week, it looks like DA agent has also played a big part in the final outcome. What i find strange now is that this deal wont be completed until next week sometime. NP said on yesterday that he was off to Norwich and there website quotes Paul Lambert as saying that is progressing well with some details to be sorted out. Now from what Derby fans are saying he was struggling with that injury last season. My point being have Norwich found something during the medical and are waiting for test results ? If they dont take him where does that leave Ayala ? Other than this i dont see why the delay in his signing for Norwich already ? Patience as always i guess.
Back in June, AP described our valuation of Ayala and Liverpool's as being 'miles apart', if we were willing to pay £800-850k, then he would hardly have described £1m as being miles apart.
