I think we will lose Maguire whatever happens in Summer, provided we get a very good valuation and none of this £10m nonsense then I could live with it. Going down I think we would essentially see all of the loan players go back, all of our better first team players leave (bar Dave, Mason and Henriksen who have been injured) and our manager and coaching staff do one. I doubt any other PL club would come in for Dawson at 33 and coming back from injury. Maybe Davies too. So: Jak Dave Dawson Davies Tymon Henriksen Meyler Mason Elmo Bowen Dio Assuming the Allams make a mint from all the player sales, we'd effectively be back in the same position we were last Summer, except without the boon of being in the PL to attract players.
Not sure about making a mint on player sales, many are lone's and those who had the 1 year option taken up by the club will be valued less? (out of contract) We only have a few with any real value. Oh and we won't be sold as the Allams think we are worth loads.
Id swap Elmo or Dio for Grosicky as I think he'll still be with us next season, he hasnt done enough to warrant any interest from other teams. What we need this summer is new owners, manager (cant see Silva staying... although you never know), backroom staff and lots of new players to make a proper squad.
Can we not just give Elmo away as some charitable donation as a tax deductable... Anyway, the team is better than you think... we bought Evandro and Ella did we not...?
I think that this close season, city are reaching a crossroads ,if the worst come's to the worst and we are relegated and the present owners stay then I think we'll see an exodus of players /backroom staff, and we'll probably end up in the lower reaches of the championship(if were lucky), what saddens me most is that this is our 3rd attempt at the PL and we appear to have learnt very little in the art of survival in the PL, to me Marco has arrived 6 months to late and he was our best bet off survival ,I known people will say "keep the faith" but to be honest I've never been as fed up with city as this for a long time( although by next Saturday I'll be there).
Our one hope must be that of this third stay in the PL comes to an end in May, the club leaves the league in a more solvent position than it entered it. The club didn't manage that the first two times.
Well non of us know what will happen, I do fear it will be a fire sale and we might do well to even stay in the Championship. I hope I am wrong.
I don't know if anyone else has seen this. Probably garbage, but thought I'd post it anyway. Newcastle are supposedly after Harry. making out he is unhappy here. However, I reckon he will be off anyway if we go down. http://the72.co.uk/76583/newcastle-united-leading-race-12m-hull-city-defender/
£12m? How much are Burnley being quoted for Keane? Why are all our players seemingly quoted as cheap?
If we can sell Robertson (10-12m), Maguire (12-15m), Hernandez (6-8m), Dawson (2-3m) and Huddlestone (2-3m) for a combined 30-35m in the summer, I think we'd be doing well and would have a good 25m budget for bringing in players to bounce back up.
Given how much Villa have spent to still be ****, Derby and Sheff Wednesday to be relatively ****. The only minor glimmers of hope are when I look at Brighton and Huddersfield. Money does still talk in the Championship and a £25m budget given how many players we will lose would merely buy a team competing to avoid relegation.
Odd to look at Brighton and Huddersfield who haven't spent much and ignore the side above them who also sold players for a fair wad and re-invested it.
They also kept a load of players and re invested a significant amount, probably much more than we did as a PL club. They spent £22m on Gayle and Ritchie alone. It's not odd to ignore them. We won't be anywhere near competing with them either in player sales or purchases.
Find it a little strange that Bruce jnr left to go on loan to Wigan over 5 weeks ago and has still yet to figure in any match day squad for them, i presume he's still injured/not match fit.
