Needs a year on loan, the club should forge ties with 3 or 4 Championship and L1 clubs with managers that play a similar way and will use the lads. I like the Blackburn manager alot, and Swindon is another option. Stevens would be a different player without his loan spells

From experience, when you play with younger guys you shout at them all through the match - and you don't mind if they shout back (especially when you mess up). It's people who go quiet and sulk that are the issue...

Kinda mental that 8 of our 32 league goals have came in the last 2 games <yikes> - 25% <laugh>

Also, one for stats people, have we scored 4 goals in back-to-back away games in the top flight before?

    How did Fraser play yesterday?

Redmond talks quite happily about being told off when he goes wrong,,,so seems he can take it.

While watching the 90 minutes yesterday evening, there was a moment where Redmond played a blind pass for Ryan to run onto, and he didn't. He was in another position to receive a pass. Blimey, didn't Nathan get mouthy. They take this stuff seriously. ;)

It was always behind the line when I was playing, but yeah, I'll accept that. How about a toe over the line onto the pitch. Looked back last night and the toe was on the pitch.

Mind you, loads of the throw-ins you see these days are foul throws. I usually gasp when a ref actually blows to penalise the player for a foul throw, because he's usually let half a dozen or so go by.

I agree about the number that go unpunished.

As to the rule, you can have 99% of your foot in the field of play as long as the tip of your heel is touching the line when you throw the ball.

It may just have been me but he seemed a bit more inclined to come off his line to (try and) claim crosses yesterday.

Otherwise it was the usual story. Didn't make any real errors but they only had 4 shots on target and managed to score 3 goals.

Blimey, that's almost the complete opposite of what I learned to play. Basically, we were told, feet behind the touchline, but it didn't matter how far behind the line you were, ie you could throw the ball from 20 feet away if you wanted. Still, it has been about 55 years since I learned the rules of football, so either some more obscure details have changed over time or I've forgotten.

still scares the **** out of me when we play a back pass, thankfully the defenders hit it as hard as you would with a 4year old

I do like our default policy of aiming the back pass so that if Fraser misses it, the ball goes wide of the goal. Sometimes, of course, the angle from which they are passing, and Fraser's position mean that they inevitably aim at the goal. Then I wait for the bobble in front of Fraser's foot. ;)

I'm a qualified ref (1980's) and I must admit I thought that just touching the line was technically a foul throw so I agree withTSS. Are we just wrong or have the laws changed?

I could probably ref a kids match, yeah. But I'd have to read up that bit about throw-ins. :)

I was playing a youth football match a few years ago, and the linesman (a dad with the opposition) was adamant I was committing a foul throw by standing on the line. Didn't like it when I told him the rule :) luckily the ref backed me up but the lino still said he didn't trust us.

I refereed a game a few years back when the ball was thrown back to the goalkeeper who went and picked it up. That's one of the laws that has changed since I qualified (and played). Luckily I remembered.
