The General Football Thread

I flew to Russia via Barcelona in order to pick up my visa at the Russian consulate there, As I exited the airport and took the Metro into the city I noticed a poster at the information counter with a map of the "Nou Camp." I could have got a ticket last Wednesday for Barcelona's game against Sporting Gijon. I baulked at the prices... the lowest being 58 euros, the highest being well into 3 figures. Talk about ripping off the visitor.

I wonder if they do the same when Espanyol are playing at home? Incidently I took a trip to the ground, walked around outside and noticed the names of some very, very famous ex-players and managers hovering over the entrances gates around the ground. Next to the stadium, you won't lack for want of food or a drink at there is a smaller version of the shopping mall that is near the London Stadium.

On the way to back to the metro, I found one of these cafe bars offering a menu del dia. Not a tourist voice to be heard. If you know Barcelona, the Espanyol Stadium is a 10 minutes walk from the Cordella Metro and RNFE Station, and with it being an area of housing, business and retail parks it is unlikely to attract those seeking the delights of Gaudi's architecture or those wanting to be gobsmacked for sitting 10 minutes in the Nou Camp. PS: The Saints Stadium is better as the guide takes you everywhere.

 

I often refer to the geographical balance in promotion and relegation issues. The PL and Championship exchange looks as it could be maintained in two instances, the same with L1 and the Championship with the Blades set to replace Rotherham and Fleetwood or Bolton replacing Wigan.

 

Opposite my bedroom here in Beresovskii is a football pitch. The snow has been cleared allowing youngsters to play on it, and it looked very green. Must be an artificial one but I did not get close enough to examine the surface.
