That would take away the likes of Ryan Bertrand, Davis, JWP, maybe Forster, Redmond and Long from the current squad who are likely to be in the squads for England, NI and the ROI.

I was paying half attention to this match on the radio whilst attending the match at the Den Plan, By all accounts this was a brilliant performance which could have been won by half time. I think that Gabbi has been an amazing acquisition but the main story has to be Redmond's two goals. It thought he played brilliantly last weekend and adding goals to his CV was the only thing that has been missing. He has improved a great deal over the last few weeks but I still think he will be pipped in these stakes by JWP who has put in some performances over the last few weeks which are starting to deliver his potential.

Although I could only gauge a vague impression by the commentary, Tadic seems to be increasingly important to this squad. Last week he was easily our best player and it sounded that he was instrumental in today's result.

 

Interesting, I thought he was the only outfield player last week who didn't play well

 

Oddly, I heard a group of Saints fans on the train back saying exactly the same thing. The rating of players last week on the journey back was quite fascinating and I thought that JWP played well, but probably the least inspiring outfield player at what I think was a 7/10 rating. Re-watching the match on TV, it was not apparent at the time just how well he played and the distance from the pitch probably exaggerated this impression. the Channel 5 coverage illustrated just how well JWP played. For me, Tadic was our best player on Sunday and should never have been substituted. I had the Radio 5 commentary on at the time and I find listening to commentaries really helps me appreciate a game when I am in a stadium although I had come to the conclusion that Tadic was playing really well even before this was mentioned on Radio 5. Dave Merrington made some comment this afternoon about Tadic as well at Wembley. There were a few fans on the train who also agreed with this assessment although, in fairness to yourself, the group I spoke to on the train were pretty negative as well.

 

Need a new dm to help Romeu. Davis doesn't work there.

Agreed. Need a box-to-box player to link the two lines. A Dean Hammond or preferably a Morgan Schneiderlin type.

Yeah, what's the issue.? Gutsy little player. And right now he's in the mood.

 

Hojbjerg needs to be given a chance there, still need more dm cover though.

 

As Im never likely to meet him, I dont have to like him. I just want him to give 100% and not be disruptive. This is not a given with all players.

 

I guess that was what he was brought in to do, but for one reason or another it's never happened. Give him time though.

Just seen the goals. I'd read that Manolo's goal was tight for offside. No chance. He pounced. He started running in as Boufal shot. Quality.

Both of Nathan's goals were nice, and Dusan's was fine. Redmond not interfering with play.
