The Sun are following The Mail's lead of a couple of days ago by reporting that Toby Alderweireld is to sign a new 5 year contract. The best defender in the PL signing to play his best years at Spurs is fabulous news. Let's hope to see the 'Man in his Suit' very soon.

I'm very much enjoying seeing Jan and Toby bringing their talents and the ball further up the pitch. Now we just need to work on the shooting.

If you wanted to believe this, feel free <laugh>:

    Apparently:
"It is understood Eriksen was in West Sussex with his friend and Exeter fan Ray Kelvin, founder of fashion chain Ted Baker.

Kelvin is good friends with Exeter boss Paul Tisdale - regarded by some as the best-dressed man in football management."

Given how the press like to sell off our players and manager, it's going to be easier to report the rumours in the style of 'Cluedo'...instead of the library, Miss Scarlet and the good old lead pipe, we should go over to reporting their grasping links thus....

Mauricio Pochettino in The Telegraph with Barcelona

Danny Rose in The Mirror with Citeh

Harry Kane in The Star with United

Well we do have a record of selling our best players to premier league teams.

Tottenham are set to move for Luke Shaw, 21, with the Manchester United defender poised to move in the summer following a lack of playing time (The Mirror)

Gee, it's almost as if the press are setting up dominoes, i.e. Shaw heads to Spurs so Rose can head to City. Slight problem, though: we'd like to keep hold of Rose, thanks, and Shaw makes absolutely no sense as he'd both have to take a pay cut from the £110k he earns every week to get wasted by Moronho to earn £60-70k per week to understudy Rose.

Back to the really real world, I can't help notice similar comments being made to the press about both Tielemans and Sessegnon by former Anderlecht/Fulham players about how they "owe" their clubs one more season. While there's certainly an argument for this in Sessegnon's case, it's worth pointing out that nobody was suggesting that Theo Walcott "owed" Southampton one more season when he buggered off the Arsenal less than half a season after making his Southampton debut. Funny that...

Perhaps Luke Shaw is prepared to take whatever pay cut is necessary in order to
get the squad game time that Pochettino would like to have offered players this
season if they were of sufficient "quality" .

    Indeed.
And the answer is to buy Sessegnon and immediately loan him back to Fulham.

    But
It's just a short NINE YEARS ago that we sold Keane and Berbatov to Liverpool and united even though they demanded to stay.
And it is only a mere ELEVEN YEARS ago that we sold Carrick who was forced out having to have his fingers prised off the white hart lane gates.
With that kind of record of us chosing to sell our best players , who do not want to leave, to English clubs is it any surprise that the papers think we will continue this trend???

As I was doing something that actually earns money and would feed and clothe my kids, I came up with a brilliant idea that was far more important and knocked that nonsense on the head. You can buy Football Club Monopoly. Most clubs have their own version. Why not Cluedo? It could be based upon each player being a supporter trying to work out where their best players are going to be sold off to in the next Transfer Window [by that skinflint Levy in our case].

You travel round the board from newspaper office to newspaper office to ask about possible deals, like you move from room to room in Cluedo. Upon reaching a room you get to ask the other players about a possible deal. Say, "Does anyone know about a story regarding Moussa Sissoko to Real Madrid in The Mail?". The first player to your right holding a card representing any element of that rumour has to disclose it.

Eventually, you cross off those elements that aren't in the envelope, thus, allowing the players to reach a conclusion as to which of the vast number of made up stories will win the day. It's brilliant, topical and fun for all the family. I thought that I had a winner until I realised that......

The Spurs version would have an empty envelope as all the stories have been made up and Southampton's version will only contain club cards for Liverpool. If anyone can help with that........

Shaw would be a complete waste of money. Sign Sessegnon and loan him back to Fulham for the season, then re-evaluate the situation at the end of next season. The kid is going to be the next Bale. There, I've said it. I think Davies will stay another year as he has played quite a bit of football this season. He's only 23 years old so is at least a year or two away from the 'itchy feet' players get as they near their peak.

I'd agree with this, but I'd buy another left-wingback, too.
Davies can play a there, as a fullback or a centre-half in a three, but we need additional cover if we're going to use the three regularly.

I'm not particularly comfortable with the idea of Davies playing as a CB. He did well there for Wales but the PL is almost a different sport to international football. If it's as a one-off in the cups against weaker opposition maybe, but not against other PL sides.

Yeah I'd go with that as well. Sessegnon looks a great young player and getting an Alli-esque deal would be ideal; Sessegnon gets regular games next season, Fulham keep a good asset for another year and we then get a more sharpened product come the 18/19 season.

Completely out of left field we're getting linked with Huddersfield central midfielder Phillip Billing, essentially based off his two matches against Man City

...although that being said, he was being linked with us this time last year - and headlines of him being the Danish Dele Alli do write themselves
