    UIR.
Certain players stayed with Man United out of loyalty ie Giggs,Scholes, Gary Neville.
Beckham left for a bigger pay-packet and because Fergie whacked him on the head with a boot.
But Beckham became a circus act by that stage anyway, look what he's married to, a tone deaf spice girl, something Fergie doesn't tolerate. I don't blame him. I doubt it if Kenny would either. Ronaldo the same thing. What has Ronaldo done since then...nothing apart from the Copa Del Rey.
As for Rooney...He's got no affection for Manchester United, he's an Evertonian. He is definitely one that stayed because he got a 150% pay-rise.

True, but then you're never sure whether he turned down Chelsea because of loyalty to Liverpool, or because of fears over his family's safety. And didn't Liverpool also have to offer Gerrard club record wages in order to keep him?

It was his loyalty to Liverpool.
Seeing as you mentioned his families safety.
Didn't a number of balaclava clad Salfords pay Wayne Rooney a visit when they thought he was joining City?

Like I said, no one will ever know apart from Gerrard, his family and his agent. Likewise, no one will ever know whether Rooney would have followed through with his threat to leave. After all, requesting a transfer in October is hardly a move designed to maximise your options - all it would have ended up doing would have seen him stuck on the bench for the next two months till the window opened, whilst his attractiveness to other clubs fell. Not to mention the fact he was already CL cup tied.

But you are right - a gang went round Rooney's house demanding to know why he'd turned the contract down. The same thing happened to Rio in 2005 when he turned down the first contract offer. Tho' I would say there is a difference between a group of hoodies turning up asking why you won't sign the contract, and known gangsters who have already threatened to shoot you in the knees threatening to murder your family if you leave.

Have you concrete proof thats what happened to Gerrard.
I've read Gerrards book and he clearly states that all of his contract issues were caused by Rick Parrys dithering. He would have put pen to paper on a contract after the CL final. How could he sign a non existent contract. Parry never put one on the table?
As for the previous year, he said he would sign if he was offered one thing and that was not money and that was the number 8 shirt previously worn by Emile Heskey.

Man Uniteds number 7 shirt is currently worn not only by a Liverpool reject....but an injury prone Liverpool reject.

Oi! Leave it out Page Moss. I'm one of us. Just because I'm on holiday doesn't mean you can take my name in vain. It's better discussing the LHC than it is ranting and raving about which team is bigger - we all know the answer to that anyway.

A Liverpool reject who has more Premier League medals than the entire Liverpool team combined.

In fairness, the pressure of following a talent so great as Heskey was a hell of a task and Gerrard should be applauded for being willing to take on this huge responsibility.

Liverpool reject? Are you saying that it was Liverpool FC who wanted to get rid of Owen rather than Michael wishing to leave?

A Liverpool reject that has won more premiership medals than the Liverpool squad combined.
I know United fans are so stupid, they make David Beckham sound intelligent, but this is rediculous.
Owen won ONE medal. Glen Johnson and Joe Cole have won a combined FIVE medals.
What would you expect from nitwits that think 38 is more than 40.
    Contscrepe.
Owen wouldn't sign a new contract and Rafa told him to close the door on his way out. He didn't beg him to stay or offer him a 150% pay-rise.
Rooney is bigger than Manchester United, he bullied the bully. However nobody is bigger than Liverpool. Kenny showed that with Torres.

What I'm stating is that you may refer to him as a "reject" but he has achieved something (no matter how small a part he played) that your captain and vice captain seem to give interviews weekly admitting an obsession over, but have yet to attain. Winning the league title. I'm sure he'll settle for being a "reject" in those circumstances.

And I'm well aware that 40 is more than 38. I got an A* in my GCSE Maths, don't you know? <ok>

If you know 40 is more than 38 will you admit that Liverpool and NOT Manchester United are the most successful club in England?

Again with the reject? Didn't Owen have only one year left on his Liverpool contract when he was sold? Didn't Benitez say: "When I came here he had one year left on his contract....Real Madrid knew that, and when a big club like them come knocking you cannot control it." Hardly sounds like Liverpool rejected Owen.

That's right - move the goalposts until eventually the facts eventually fit your fatuous argument <doh>

Well surely the only fatuous argument is that he is a reject when in fact Liverpool would gladly have kept him, had he not wanted to go to Real Madrid and not been unwilling to sign a new contract? No, of course not.
