Sorry lads but even though I'm blinkered a win for us was a fair result. Brighton are a **** side... Then again, so are we
Essentially yeah. Matt Richie stands out in that side, he's a real talent. Bruno for Brighton was good, two players who will defo be PL next season no matter what happens.
Harsh in terms of the luckiest goal of the season and having some decent chances. Thought the draw was probably fair IMO. But yeah, pretty poor standard, actually gives me some confidence for next year down there
Me too, I've seen quite a bit of the Championship this season (more than the prem possibly) and if we kept the core of the side I think we'd do really well actually. Depends on that I suppose but apart from a few players I don't think we'll be fighting off suitors and it seems like the club has recently grown a pair when it comes to telling other sides to **** off when we don't want to sell.
I don't think we'd miss many of they were to leave apart from Pickford, Defoe, Kone possibly. Maybe that's the issue though, no one wants the deadwood who probably need to move on. Similar to Villa who just have a losing mentality from last season even more so with Negative Dave at the helm. Everyone says it's a tough league to get out of but as long as you have pace and hard work with a tiny bit of quality you should piss it. Easier said than done though.
Yeah no guarantees in football and especially not when we're involved, I do think that we would be good enough to come back up though and it might even be beneficial. I can imagine that if Moyes can build a solid nucleus (of probably young players on the whole) that become accustomed to winning games then we'd be in a better position to push on in the prem than we are by staying up by the skin of our teeth every year.
The only tough thing about this league is the rate at which the games come at you. The standard itself is pretty dire
Brighton started the second half going for the second goal but after the 60 minute I thought they sat in and to break on Newcastle. Anyway **** game. I said to rooch3 the other day we struggle to get back up but I think we be fine. Poor league.
Just need a full squad of players and should be fine. That's why Rafa bought Murphy etc, just for backup. Looks like a huge huge gulf between PL and Championship if that's the best it's got to offe tonight. Both teams need 6/7 first teamers minimum to stand a chance I reckon.
Is that the penalty where the defender had hold of the player and another defender pushed him? I hate this "Well you see it all the time and they're not given" mentality - it's a foul as in the defender is impeding the forward - they should all be given, this would stop it in an instant. Why is shirt tugging (in your eyes) allowed in the box from a dead ball situation when it's always a free kick (and often a yellow card) outside of the box?
Pretty sure i didn't say any of that. I thought it wasn't a penalty as they were both guilty and so far every single impartial critic of the event has said that it either wasn't a penalty, was soft or that both players were culpable. If you want to claim I've said that all shirt pulling should be allowed then by all means go ahead but it's not factually accurate. My main point was more that it depends on what you see as luck really, our goal was the sloppiest goal I've seen all season but it didn't come from nothing. We were the better team despite not actually playing very well, in truth we've been poor since December and entirely unconvincing in our performances.
To answer your point though, what every wants is consistency. I'd be happy to have them all given as penalties.
I thought it was a pretty entertaining game actually, and yeah the equaliser was lucky, but we had a tonne of other chances and they only scored through a dodgy penalty, we dominated and deserved the win. Your old boy Colback actually played vaguely well for one (played well as in he was pretty anonymous and didn't make any of his usual catastrophic errors), although it was telling that as soon as he went off we won the game!
And I think he went off at the weekend when we were losing for us to the come back into the game and draw. At Championship level he's a passenger and one of our weakest players, he's about the level of Bridcutt. If we rely on him at all next season (if we go up) then we haven't invested enough to stay up. Colback left Sunderland because he claimed he didn't want to be involved in a relegation scrap. I can only now assume it is because he knew he would be found out in the Championship let alone the Premiership.
Marcus, you'd be spewing if that was given against you lot. The ref was from Huddersfield as well The toon would have been wrecked last night had they not got anything from that match.
We should play Khazri and tell him to shoot on sight and Defoe to follow in on it, if Bravo is in net. Bully him at corners and set pieces, he's ****.
