  4. That's what I loved about Hodgson, Tobes. There wasn't a deluded bone in his body, and he spoke with realism, and from the heart. I can understand why the red Mousers didn't like to hear it, but the man was speaking the truth at that point in time.

Please, before anyone gets on my back and tries to accuse me of wumming, look at the part that I have emphasised.

Why would you laugh though, you rate Hodgson along the same lines as Diego Simeone. Surely they would be getting one of the world's best managers according to your logic ?

  10. I'd laugh if they got Simeone, but that would be for different reasons, Pix.

Why would they need him if they are going for Hodgson ?

  12. We don't know if they are, to be fair, Pix. Given the massive backlash from the fans, I'd be surprised if LCFC's owners will appoint Hodgson.

Nonetheless, I think Hodgson would do a better job at keeping LCFC up, than Simeone would. I know you find that funny, but you haven't expressed why Simeone would be better suited to LCFC than Hodgson would.

I think we might already have seen that all our players need is someone to motivate them and I can't think of anyone worse than Woy to do so. I don't know much about Simeone but I wouldn't have thought anyone could do a worse job than Woy would. He literally has nothing going for him

Probably something to do with Simeone being one of the best managers in the world at the moment and Hodgson being an unemployed chump <laugh>

  15. Keller was speaking very highly of him, so the players might well see things differently to the you fans.

The advantage that Hodgson has over Simeone - and I think it is a massive advantage - is that Hodgson has managed in the English league. He was good for both Fulham and West Brom, but not so good for 'Pool. But, with all due respect to LCFC, they are more like Fulham and West Brom than they are 'Pool. I think Hodgson was out of his depth at both 'Pool and for the England job, whereas he fitted right in at Fulham and Brom.

LCFC need to avoid relegation, and I think Hodgson is more suited to that role than to trying to win titles and trophies.

I'm not saying that he'd be a long-term option, but of all the managers available at this point in time, I think he makes a very good case.

Simeone wouldn't have a clue what to do, with LCFC in the position they find themselves in. Besides, I think he'd rather take the much easier option by going to a club that is already pushing for honours.

  16. Duh!

    We're talking hypothetically, here.

Or do you really think that Simeone would actually go to LCFC? <laugh>

Plus, I no longer fall for this "one of the best managers in the World" bollocks! The most that anyone can about Simeone, and managers like him, is that they excel at managing good clubs who are set up with very little real opposition. As Pep is finding at City, when there are 6 or 7 sides that have the ability to match you, and another 10 or so others who can, on their day, punish you, things aren't so cut and dried.

LCFC are fighting for their Prem survival. They don't have the luxury that City have of bringing in a big name on a massive salary, who has only proved himself with a team chock full of fancy-Dan players. What LCFC need is a manager who knows what he's doing in the Prem.

It's like saying Joey Barton would be better than Iniesta, because he's got PL experience.

I know you're new to this football talk, but seriously ? <laugh>

You think Simeone only looks good because he's managing a 'good club who are set up with very little opposition' ? Have you never heard of Real Madrid or Barcelona ? Have you never heard of the Champions League ? The bloke has won La Liga and got to two CL finals, in a league that is dominated by Real and Barca.

  19. Certain players are suited to certain roles in order to bring out their best qualities.

If you are in a relegation battle, it might be the case that having Joey Barton in your side would be better than having Iniesta. It all depends on whether or not Iniesta would be prepared to fight for survival and kick the necessary arse on both the training field and during matches.

Bringing in a "top name" manager isn't necessarily the best thing to do when a team is in the position that LCFC now finds itself in. Anyone who claims that is being extremely naïve, in my opinion.

    BobbyD and Spurlock like this.

  20. What club does Simeone manage, Pix?

Where is his club, at this precise moment, in La Liga?

How many points behind Barca and Real is that club?

Is there another club ahead of Simeone's club? How many points ahead of Atletico is Sevilla?

Simeone isn't even competitive in a league that generally presents a two-horse race! And, yet, you think he'd be the perfect choice for Leicester in fighting relegation in the hardest league in the World?

You accuse me of being "new" to football, but it seems to me that you have a very limited understanding of how things work in this sport, Pix. I say that without wishing to cast any aspersions on your character, as I am sure that there are many things that you are good at. Football isn't one of them, Pix. That is probably the reason why you put your faith in Wenger for so very long when it was clear to your fellows that he was past his sell-by date.
