Nass: With the ground soo bad i can see some outsiders tonight! 800: Although drawn wrong and beaten out of sight LTO by Blown It, Future Gem loves this soft ground and with Duran Fentiman having such a good record on this undulating track Future Gem at 50s is worth a few Quid EW The 655 looks a nice event and Stormy Whatever will make the market but See Clearly will make him go and take a look at the run of Valley of Hope behind the fav LTO, Tony Hamilton was not at all hard and with Hanagan the managan in the plate may be able to turn the form around! 725 has a Sir Michael 'hot pot' and although related to Sadlers Wells i shall take a chance on Tom Dascombes My Hearts On Fire. What do you think to those
Just off topic a bit but i advise getting on norwich to beat wigan tomorrow - 3/1 available with paddy power - also backed andy carroll e/w as top scorer at 22/1
A few nice races today but can't for the life of me understand why, yet again, we need 6 meetings! Anyway, I'll recommend to the old regular readers: Firdaws (1.30 Newbury) - this looks a strong maiden with many of the top yards represented by well-bred individuals. However, in this latter respect none are more so than Firdaws who's dam won the Oaks and grand-dam the 1,000 Guineas and Oaks. Is reportedly flying at home and expectations are already high re this terms 'Fillies Mile' and next year's 1,000 Guineas. Should certainly take this race before moving onto better things. Whispered (4.55 Newbury) - what a lovely name for a filly by the way. Sir Michael's charge has just been touched off in 2 above average maidens so far this season but can make it 3rd time lucky this term here today. Both horses who beat Whispered have since won again so the form to her name is obviously strong. Looks too classy here. Xenophon (5.15 Nottingham) - this one has shown very little in 6 runs on the flat but since his last race, on the old level, has won 2 juvenile hurdle races (the last one of these impressively, under a penalty). Off just 45 this afternoon Xenophon looks incredibly interesting given the obvious improvement that he has shown since first jumping timber. This, meanwhile, will be my final post for a few weeks as am off to God’s own county, Devon, for a fortnight from tomorrow and then after that have got the joys of fixing up all the details relating to a secondment to keep myself occupied. Until the next time then...take care, people.
Morning Eez. Glad to see you posting again. Where have you been? Hope you are keeping well. I wonder where Cyc is today.
2.00 Newbury: UNEX MICHAELANGELO 8/1- Looks to have a superb pedigree, out of a full sister to High Chapparal, and by Dansili. Clearly will be looking at a mile and a quarter upwards at some point, but Gosden and Buick continue to fire in winners and this one can go well at a nice price. I am very excited about the Firdaws debut, I noted this one down a few weeks ago when going through the entries to one or two races and I too have heard whispers that this one might be a very nice type. I would suggest 16/1 AntePost for the 1000 Guineas is more of a value bet than 4/5 in a Maiden though. I suspect the price will contract if it wins today. 3.20 Newcastle: LUCKY NUMBERS 10/1- Loves the mud and this looks a winnable race, I'm chancing it to defy top weight.
1.30 Newbury - TALES OF GRIMM E.W 10/1 (NAP) - Looking forward to this maiden. There are plenty of interesting types in the race esepcially FIRDAWS. However at evens she is certainly not a bet against the colts first time out added to that even if she is top class they can still be beaten first time out (Sea The Stars and George Washington are two that stick out). Frankel was sent off bigger than this one on debut which as Nass said earlier on gives an idea of how short this filly is this afternoon. Tales Of Grimm is the E.W bet for me. It doesn't stand out so much on paper but the fact his price rose to 320,000gns last year does. Although most of Stoutes need the run if he has a decent one he is more than capable of getting them to win first time out. Fallon is booked and 10s seems a decent enough price
I'm here Ron, but watching my beloved Broncos go around. Half time. Have a good holiday mate. P.S. Good to see the tags have been hit.
interesting choice there RAINBOW. TALES OF GRIM. good luck I had ralphy beckett as a guest the other night.he was up this neck of the woods for a bit of pre-season grouse shooting and was recommended our abode by aidy when he was in attendance at the curragh last week. ralph reckons his horse FARLOW is still on the up and should win today.he also says his good chum chaninngsy said that WOODCOTE PLACE would do the buis today. as for andy carroll being the top scorer in the premier lg,i will show my arse in poundland window if that occurs, but good luck to anyone who has backed him.
RV - any markets for most assists? If so then look no firther than Ashley young - in fact I think he will be player of the year as well. Incdentally Paddy Power are running a book on which club will be the first to have a player involved in a sex scandal. Maybe i'm missing something but seurely that one could easily be open to serious manipulation? Find a girl of easy virtue, target a premiership player (ok that isn't the easiest thing but it's by no means impossible), get her to do the bizzo and Bob's your uncle. West brom are 16/1 by the way
Now now gents less of this, otherwise I will go a loot the nearest store (which is an independent bookmaker which only seems to do 10p L15s) Gary will look at those selections when I have had a look at going reports. Anyone got the full updated going reports for the day?
Nass: Catterick now officially gd/soft (soft in places) but it's still drizzling so if they do not change the going beforehand they will after the first race!
Nass it is Robert Helpmann thinking he owns the place man. He is a pain in the arse who likes to have a laugh on at things that are just not funny, isn't that right GDC.
RV - cheers for that price - I think that's one of the bets of the season. Sadly it would probably mean United winning the league again but hey, profit is profit!
