Did he give you any idea of how long before the op and what your physical abilities will be whilst (hopefully) the treatment works as you may need to make arrangements to deal with your changed short term circumstances .
A serious post He said I won't be waiting long and I'll be in and out same day. I don't think I'll be particularly compromised, apart from getting the dressings changed, which will probably be quite painful.
ah right might want to check on your mobility to ensure it's not limited by the op or their insistence on what you can & can't do after the op to ensure your recuperation. PS got 2 spare wheelchairs in the garage if you need a loan
