Starter pancake - smoked salmon, leek and cream cheese.

Mains pancake - banana and maple syrup.

Pud pancake - lemon juice and castor sugar.

    Cue heart attack.

    Are they really cakes?

Can they still be pancakes if you do them in the microwave?

I might be a clown, but at least I can make a proper pancake. Not some floppy dross with lemon juice on it.

Given the choice, I'd take the big shoes and a red nose over the madness posted on here.

The ones I've seen posted haven't got flour in, otherwise they'd be thicker. They've clearly just beaten eggs and added milk.

Odd, isnt it, my wife makes the Yorkshire Pudding and I do the pancakes.

The best pancake to have is always the last one out of the mixing bowl. Lemon and sugar is the only way.

DMD the secret to not getting carpet fluff, is not to do any tossing in your lounge.

You've embarrassed yourself there. Apologise or go straight to bed.

The question is, what sort of pancakes are the aliens in bunkers so secret that their location is signposted in letters a mere foot tall eating?.
    We need to know.

Last meal I had on leaving Hull to return to Aus following our last major visit in 2010 was at the old Reeds Hotel in Barton-on- Humber.

    Entree. Yorkshire Pud with gravy.
Mains. Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pud and veg.
Dessert. Yorkshire Pud with golden syrup.

What did you have for your starter and pudding.
PS that venue isn't in Yorkshire.

Chef was a Yorkshire lad. Venue was near where my sister was born during WW2 and where her youngest daughter was married.

I think I've said this before but I can't get excited about pancakes. No one cares about them the rest of the year because they're not actually that great. We just pretend they're a big deal cos tradition. Lemon and sugar is just incredibly dull.

I think some forms of pancakes are a bit better, but the traditional ones we have in this country are just really, really bland. That's why you wouldn't dream of having them any other day.

There's a Turkish pancake type thing called Gozleme (which may well exist in other countries too, I dunno) which is much more interesting in my opinion. They can be topped with sweet or savoury and they're bloody good.

I think I've been misunderstood. The ones that I've seen posted on Facebook et al, clearly don't have flour in them. They've simply beaten eggs and added milk, then fried it. Which, yes, makes an omelette. I know exactly how to make pancakes, good ones. Great ones, in fact. And I wouldn't dream of ****ing them up with lemon and sugar.

If they're floppy and thin, to me they're crepes.
