How can you think they are rank when they are effectively a flat yorkie pud, which we all know is the best part of a roast dinner!
its really that hard to get a pint of milk and a small bag of plain flour... all you need is 150g flour 300ml milk 1 egg yolk, 1 full egg pinch of salt if you want I left mine settle for an hour this morning before cooking. add all the crap you like after.
I've made buckwheat pancakes a couple of times recently.........you have to have a good selection of toppings. Jam,honey, maple syrup, lemon juice, nut pieces etc................or savoury stuff, soft cheeses, salad leaf, olive oil etc.
Yeah I have no eggs either.. and no chocolate or lemons... I have salt and sugar is about it really and cba to go shop to buy them for 1 day. Whole point is to use what's left not to buy the ingredients needed for the 1 day
I personally think its just a bit plain is the real reason people don't eat it any more cos in reality its the very easiest flour based food to make really. I make them for the kids a few times but only when asked. Has anyone had ynak panckaes out of a machine. the one in hotels where the conveyor belt moves along and the batter is squirted on to it and the heat tunnel "cooks" it. It is astoundingly low end stuff.
bake a cake after? Or feed yerself scrambled eggs tomorrow and then use the flour to make a roux asa base for a sauce... or are you an app delivers my food kind of guy? OR knock on your neighbours door and aks for some. she might even be hot who knows.
You can use half oats for the flour for a slightly healthier pancake. I've mixed cocoa into the mix before too for a slightly less healthy pancake. RHC probably substitutes the milk for Carling.
