    Given that they're roughly the same, how do you feel about Yorkshire puddings?

    They're not though. Yorkshire puddings you eat with savoury stuff. It's like saying a fried egg is the same as a poached egg. The only similarity is they are eggs - don't taste or look the same.

    Have you never had Yorkshire pud as a pudding? When I was a kid my favourite Sunday dinners finished with Yorkshire pud, golden syrup and ice cream .... lovely!

    <laugh> that's a pretty terrible analogy, given that the only ingredient in a fried egg is egg. And when do you eat poached or fried egg with anything not savoury?! A poached egg is a yolk surrounded by albumen, as is a fried egg, I'd say they look a bit similar...

    When I used to go to my Great Grandmothers she used to do us Yorkshire puddings with jam and cream. They aren't savoury by nature, they're sort of neutral.

    It's a great analogy. Exactly the same to start - cooked differently giving very different outcomes.

    Like a flat fried pancake versus an oven baked Yorkshire Pudding.

    Either way pancakes are ****ing vile. Never liked them, maybe all the **** people chuck on them like lemon, sugar and syrup.

    Mind you, I can't abide sponge cake either.

    If you like a Yorkshire Pud in a Yorkshire pub try the Half Moon at Skidby. Each one is the size of a large bread tin.

    I love Yorkshire pud, you can tell when my wife's yorkies are ready for coming out - they rise high enough to catch the roof of the oven! An extra egg white added to the mix is the key (keep it to yourself).

    That's what my dad used to put on them. It's like there were no other things left in the cupboard and he just bunged on whatever else he could find. A bit of jif squeezable lemon (the juice not the bleach) and a teaspoon of sugar that came with the house.

    I like lemon juice, butter and pure maple syrup for crepes (what my mother called pancakes).For the fluffy kind of pancakes (also known as hot cakes) I just like butter and maple syrup. If the mood takes me, I sometimes add fruit and/or whipped cream. Yorkshire puds as a dessert are great.

    Anyone remember Golden Egg restaurants? They served brilliant flapjacks with maple syrup and cream. I wish I could get that flapjack recipe

    Recipe; chuck the flour, milk, eggs in the bin. Drink the gin.
