Yes they did. It was a great gesture and it ensured that our end was a see of red and white. On the other hand United just gave some of their fans a piece of card to hold up which is now all a little bit passé don't you think. It simply illustrated that our owners are generous and have real class while United's owners are neither.

Although the incident did indirectly lead to the third goal, both our CBs also did actually get back, but unfortunately, because someone dribbled across our 18 yard line, passing Romeu, Stephens stepped up, and then didn't get back quickly enough to cover Ibra.
Would like to have a real close look at the Long incident, just before the winner.
Looked as if Smalling (?) hung a foot out, when sliding in, and was nowhere near the ball. Just can't work out if there was contact.

 

Just a thought, on the "offside" goal.
In the absence of video technology, when a goal has been scored, shouldn't the ref and the Lino always have a proper chat, before making the final decision to disallow. Especially when "interfering with play" comes into effect and the decision is borderline.
Not saying that they don't talk over the radio, but slowing the process down, gives the Lino time to mentally review his decision, and allows the ref to give his perspective of which players were actively interfering with play, which in turn allows an error to be overturned.
The ref was central, so would easily have seen that Bertrand couldn't have interfered or distracted De Gea, because he was behind him.
But, if the Lino genuinely thought Gabby was offside, then it wouldn't have changed anything.
Bugger.

 

What a day, and what a performance, although the result wasn't what we'd hoped for i came out of wembley feeling quite content. The lads were brilliant, the fans made it special again just like the cup final in 2003. I got some pretty decent pics and a video of the lads walking down the stairs after collecting there medals. I will try to post some later.
