Are you sure you are supporting the right team? You are unremittingly downbeat on our prospects. Surely all fans should go into the season full of hope and optimism?

Good article, seriously can't see liverpool challenging with their "class" additions e.g henderson 20 million, and carrol 35 million (apparently worth the same as farbregas?) I think are striking situation could be alot worst bar crouch. If defoe plays regulary in a 433 will sure to score goals with bale and lennon either side, if we get off to a good start top 5 finish is a guaruntee
Defoe won't be playing regularly, he hasn't shown he can play with VDV. Liverpool have bought well, overpaid for the players perhaps, but all of them have PL experience and that counts for a great deal, wouldn't surprise me if they were challenging for the title without any European distractions.
Challenging for the title? How many of their signings in this window would make it into our first XI? None. Defoe hasn't shown that he can match up well with van der Vaart, but neither has anyone else in our team. Crouch did sporadically, but not consistently.
Suarez would get in our team quite easily. Carroll is a better striker at this moment than two of our current players. Adam is a more mobile Huddlestone, with a better dead ball style and just as good distribution. Enrique is at least as good as Benny (and I rate Benny very highly) Henderson is a top prospect in centre mid, and will learn a hell of a lot off Gerrard (and who wouldn't want a younger version of Gerrard in their squad) Downing is ****.
Note that I said 'in this window'. Carroll and Suarez were not signed in this window. Downing is a decent and consistent winger, but he wouldn't displace Bale. Adam is a pretty good playmaker, but wouldn't displace Modric or Sandro. Enrique's a pretty decent left-back, but is questionable defensively. Mirror image of Johnson. As good as Assou-Ekotto? No. Henderson's a reasonable prospect, but he's done nothing so far to suggest that he's anything other than that. None of them would get into our first XI.
Couldn't agree more, I would only add that Downing is as you say, but he's not a top4 player imo...hence why only Liverpool were interested.
Yes, it appears that the media (Sky in particular, which is no surprise) have all but written off Spurs chances this season, you only have to look at the Sky Sports front page to see 5 players advertising the new season..... one from each of Man Utd, City, Goons, Chavs and Liverpoor. So Sky now have their very own special `Sky 5` and Spurs are not in it, even though we were CL QF ists and have finished above Historypool 2 seasons running. I dont know why everybody is tipping Liverpool, all they have done is pay too much for mediocrity, Spurs squad is still better without any additions.
Liverpool have strengthened their squad, but they seem to have overloaded some areas and neglected others. Not sure what their first XI's going to look like, to be honest.
I still think that Liverpool will be in a fight with us and possibly Arsenal for fourth Ensil, but people are talking about them challenging for the title. I really can't see why.
