There are some decent races to get stuck into today and i wanted to put up a thread early as i feel there are some to watch for in the market. I have found a few when going through that have been arguably running against better than they are today, the first of these is Newcastle 3.20 Desert Creek 9-1 This horse was bought out of the Stoute yard and although has done nothing this year for Dandy Nicholls he has still been highly tried. He was started out this year in a listed event won by Dunelight, then dropped to a class 2 handicap won by Hoof it and then a class 3 at Glorious Goodwood won by Red Gulch. He is now in a very ordinairy looking class four and at 9-1 i feel is worth taking a chance on. Newbury 3.10 Gogeo 4-1 Ran well in a decent race won by Berling last week with another regarded horse in second. Gogeo was staying on at the end and so i think the extra distance for the first time today will suit. Newbury 3.45 Kohala 9-1 This is a tricky race and perhaps the best race on the card but i have gone for this selection as i feel at the prices he is the best value as i feel he has no less chance than any horse higher in the betting but at 9-1 is significantly higher priced. The other thing i noticed was that Jimmy Fortune is aboard A Chapel-Hyam horse in the maiden as is often the case for his fancied runners but is not riding My propellar, this could be nothing but either way i think David Barron really rates this horse as was happy to send him to Royal Ascot which he does not do lightly with his two year olds. Newmarket 8.10 Wake up Call 6-1 I have gone for this selection very tentatively as there are undoubtedly some unexposed horses in the race that could yet prove better than their current mark. This horse though came second in a Listed race last year and shaped as though returning to form last time out. Some in this race could be up to that for sure but Wake up call has already proved he is so in a class 3 handicap he is great value at 6-1 Newbury 2.00 Top Offer One last write up for the second race on the card at Newbury where the maiden could throw up an above average horse for this race. I was told to look out for the horse of Roger Charltons Top Offer about a month ago and it runs in this race, it is supposedly thought to be pretty good. Peter Chappel-Hyam has one in called Charleys Mount which could also be interesting if backed as he has booked Jimmy Fortune which he tends to do on the better thought of horses. They teamed up with a good one a couple of weeks back. I will be backing Top Offer though to win. Good luck all today
It will be interesting to see if RV goes for Co Dependent tonight at Kempton Parkway. The horse has been running well but seemed to hate the Southwell surface on his last two efforts. He switches to Kempton's polytrack and this race isn't particularly strong and he looks the one that could improve to strike in this race off bottom weight. His course and distance form is solid and I think he could be overlooked by the bookies in this one.
I know a few have talked about this particular horse im going to mention but apparently in the 1:30 Newbury Firdaws NAP is the absolute dog b*ll*cks I have heard that this thing is an absolute machine has wings catches pigeons all those connatations, The Nile is also supposed to be one Gosdens best but Varian's beast is incredible. Also been given Top Offer In 2:00 Newbury whom Bluesky has put up as having a very good chance.
That Firdaws race shows me why bookies drive big cars. 5/4 is ridiculously short even with the very positive reports because Gosden/Stoute/Hannon all have possibilities in the race. I hope it wins for you catty but I will be leaving well alone
Nass: I challenge you to find me the winner of the first or last race at Catterick Bridge Oddy: Best comment i've seen in ages on here late last night re the Chuckle brothers
8.50 Kempton, Chapter and Verse e/w (currently 9/1). Lightly raced this year, down in weights, likes Kempton. Had some tough assignments in the past. Didn't have a good race LTO against Red Gulch at Goodwood, but he seems to much prefer the poly. cheers.
Gaz - First race 2 beats 1 in a forecast - Serena to do the job on the rogue Last race is dire but I wonder if My Name Is Bert could be overpriced as I like its penultimate start.
For anyone mad enough to place a bet at the Bridge tonight I can assure you it will be soft at best!! The rain has not really stopped for a day and a half now. Will probably end up verging heavy so in the 5f race they will go stands side meaning a high draw will be favourable. In the 6f and 7f races kickers off the front very rarely get caught and again they will come stands side after taking the final bend I have the winner of the 1st and last races and hopefully the 3rd too
Nass: I like Patavium too but there could be some value in Dimashq at the prices, nice EW proposition in this ground. In the last i would back Emeralds Spirit if it was trained by anyone other than Weymes! I shall ask Phil once on track but again there must be some value in Blue Noodles with his placed runs in soft and heavy! Dire with a capital 'D' card again though
Can't see Rex Imperator getting beat in the opener at Nottingham but 1/2 is no sort of price. Sir Mark Prescott introduced a nice looking juvenile at Lingfield last week in Gassin Golf and I think it's interesting that his filly Empyrean makes her debut in a fairly decent looking class 4 tonight (6.45 Kempton) rather than 2 alternative engagements early next week (both class 6). Makes me think she has been showing a bit at home and I don't think Sir Mark would pitch her in against more experienced colts on debut unless he thought she were up to it. 6.45 Kempton Empyrean E/W NAP.
I remember it well Nass - must've been this time of year as I remember Sir Henry pinpointing him as one of his best chances at the Ebor meeting, but then he switched him to Newmarket. Very heavy going if I remember and he just scraped home from a subsequent King George winner
And the horse who finished 2nd to Frankel (on both their debuts) was, of course, Nathaniel. What a race in retrospect that was! Has there ever been a strong maiden than that one?!? I wonder if the horse who finishes 2nd to Firdaws this afternoon will go on to have a similarly successful career?!?
Oddy, the Frankel/Nathaniel heat was a year ago today. The 2011 version is the 6.35 race at Newmarket tonite.
Morning all Nass CO DEPENDANT is a bet at that price, weak looking race 10-1 for me is too big for pointing out had missed him last night when scanning the card
