So your answer to this was nope, and you somehow think that makes me look silly? Are you now saying that players/fans don'twant to win things with their current clubs? PS your posts about trophies are just down right ridiculous!
Doh,Thats my point mate. You dissed Reina earlier in the thread yet your club were crap for the most part of its time between titles and the players(most were'nt fit to lace Pepes boots)are looked upon as legends. As has been pointed out, players sign for clubs other than for money.
Tbf, reina was quoted saying 'I won't lie, I want to play in the champions league and compete for trophies' a few months ago. I'm not saying he ever wanted to leave or join united, but saying he doesn't care about trophies is daft, every player does. In all honesty, you may not have said that he doesn't but after a quick scan through this page I got that impression, sorry if it was false :/
Every player who joins every club does so with an aim to winning something. I dont see what the problem is. Its a great attitude to have surely? Its not like going to a club for money.
Jezz Pepe like every player wants the success that reflects their ability,it was obvious that he was torn between his loyalty and ambition,We could have made a huge profit if we had sold him but when he got assurances that our new owners are as ambitious as him he gave us a further portion of his career. He actually(just like Lucas)loves life on Merseyside so that played a big part in his decision to stay.
Dont Utd fans accuse their "noisy neighbours" of signing players who only play for City for the £££££'s
I think there are certain clubs that players will go to for Money, others for Trophies and success, some to make a name for themselves, but then there are a few clubs where players will go just because they support the club. I feel Liverpool are of the latter, generally the players that come here and play regular football are happy and don't want to leave with the exception of Torres and that Argentinian fellow, but we all know what they're like... The likes of Gerrard, Carra, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Spearing, Kuyt could all have left throughout their careers with us, through the ups and downs but they've stuck with us and no doubt most of them have been offered footballs by clubs more likely to get silverware at the end of the season. The fact they've stayed means we have something to offer them, and they feel they have something to offer us. That's why I'm happy with players coming and going; if players don't want to come then I won't be disappointed, I'd rather they made their intentions clear than join and leave when they don't fit in.
Yeah but Gerrard stayed without demanding a huge rise. Rooney would of definitely left without the increase That's loyalty.
Correct, however, there is a huge gulf between a player saying " I want to win trophies whilst I am at (insert club name)" And "I want to win trophies so will move to whoever is the most successful club at the present time" The fact that you cannot see this, sort of sums up the fundamental difference between us as fans.
Most players say both of those things. "I want to win at ______ but if that is not possible i will have to move to __________." Any player that is an exeption (for non-wage related reasons) deserves respect
Ahhh so Gerrard stayed at Liverpool out of loyalty then. Ok. PKM - it isn't just United fans who accuse players of signing for City because of the money it is pretty much all football fans who accuse players of signing for City for money.
Well to be fair Gerrard didn't really have any better offer to negotiate with. Chelsea weren't going to pay him huge wages after those scouse gangsters broke both of his legs...
