Rings a bell...Nicola was an odd 'un, but I'm sure it will be somewhere.

 

Nicola had the place black, white and grey.

Can confirm from the FA Cup game in January that the corridors are red and white and there are pictures of plenty of moments from over the years behind the scenes both at St. Mary's and Staplewood.

 

I went on a stadium tour maybe 4 years ago and I'm pretty sure there were pictures of our cup winners from 76

Just noticed Virgil isn't wearing a shoe on his injured foot. Me thinks if there was a tiny spec of hope that he'd secretly be ready to play in the final, that's quashed it.

 

Serious pre-match thoughts: Apart from a bit of a wobble where you all thought we were getting relegated, we have been consistently "ok" since about November. Won some games we should have won and lost some games we should have lost. That's why I find this hard to predict. Man Utd have some quality but played three games while we've been preparing/doing not much. With half the time to prepare for this, we demolished Sunderland tacically (who are bad, I know). So even though we aren't the favourites, it's not by much. I like Puel more than most, and I think he will get us to play well again. That's all he can do, the rest of it is down to the 22 players.

I've found my JPT flags and afro wig, and bought some red and white balloons earlier. Going to nip to the saints shop in west quay before it closes (and when it's cheaper parking) to maybe buy a new shirt. Can't find my red and white face paint so might have to settle for my normal ugly mug

There were two strange articles in the Daily Express which summarise the poor quality of journalism it espouses. The first quoted Mick Channon chiming in with comments about the selling of our star players will ultimately see us relegated but the second, focusing on Claude Puel , was the most bizarre. Effectively it said that Puel was more interested in a grievance against Man Utd who knocked his Lille team out of the European Champions League. I felt that it must have been a bizarre press conference.

Looking forward to tomorrow but a bit apprehensive as no one seems to be giving us a chance, including former players! I think were a probably more underdogs than we were in 1976 because of the number of injuries but if we put in a performance akin to the one against Liverpool, the result could be open to question, especially considering Man Utds' three games in ten days. It would be fun it we tonk them as wiping the smile off Mourinho's face is perhaps even more agreeable than putting one over on Wenger.

 

Nobody gave us a chance in 1976. I remember the pundits on match day suggesting 3-0, 4-0 as likely scores. This time we are considered to have some chance. In case anyone has forgotten, we were in the second tier Last time around.
