The owners are **** scared of relegation. From what I've seen of Leicester they're not playing for Ranieri so as harsh as it is the owners haven't got an awful lot of choice. Ranieri is a good manager when things are going well but really struggles to turn things around when things are going badly. Last season's title win does make the sacking look ridiculous but at the same time this season's form alone justifies the sacking 100%.

I'll say it now and hope it comes true. I'd take us winning the Premier League and a relegation battle the following season, any time it's on offer. And I'd want to keep the manager too!

You can't seriously compare that??? This man won them the title at little old Leicester. Nigel got us to 15th!

Not even comparable.
But he had got us 2 promotions..and the 2nd one got us to the big time....but it didn't earn him even one season. I suppose Nicola thought it was horses for courses and he couldn't risk relegation. I also think NC was seriously annoyed that we didn't win the title. Whatever the reason....it was harsh. May have turned out right, but still harsh.

Not sure that sacking Ranieri will solve Leicester's problems though.

I'm not saying it wasn't harsh, but just it wasn't comparable. Ranieri achieved the impossible dream.

I agree with Fran on this, Nigel did wonders for this club, 2 promotions in such a short space of time is nothing to be sniffed at. I would have been happy if he stayed. Obviously things turned out well for us, but Nigel's sacking is more comparable to Raneri's than is being made out. (Ie 15th position)

Previous achievements count for little to owners when their Premiership lives are at risk. In those circumstances they show their ruthlessness and that includes Saints.

We will just have to disagree, because you really can't compare promotions, even two of them to wining the league with a club like Leicester. I'm not sniffing at what Nigel did, it's just not an "impossible" task.

Just as a quick example, Paul Lambert did what Nigel did the year before we did it....

Name me the last manager to win the league that was a phenomenal achievement? I can't think of anyone since Brian Clough with Forest and that was pre the big money league.

I'd even take winning the Prem followed by relegation the following season but I doubt the owners would. Premier status is everything.

Not anywhere close, two promotions vs winning the PL. With Adkins, I got it. Here though, you have a bunch of players not playing for Ranieri. They should be sacked, not him.

I already wanted Leicester relegated, tbh. But now I want them finishing 20th.

Kenny Dalglish with Blackburn was a big achievement. I think i have been misunderstood, i am not saying Leicester was wrong sacking Raneri, even though harsh, i was trying to make the point that Nigel did more for this club than just achieving 15th spot in the Premiership.

Blackburn were a small club, but they spent more than anyone else. They bought the title for sure.

Even still, that's one. It is just a miraculous achievement; something quite incredible. Nigel's was a great achievement, not miraculous.
