An article that has no quotations, or even facts, always stands out as dubious to me. We are obviously up for sale or investment but we will know very little unless it comes from the club or official economic sources such as Bloomberg. These things tend to stay private as there is rarely anything to be gained from media attention and there are no agents to talk to press!

Don't necessarily agree. Sometimes there's no further information on hand to the journalist, or, they're asked to withhold in return for further updates later down the line. Can see why it makes people doubtful though. But someone like Craig Hope doesn't run this story with 'exclusive' in front of it unless he's clued up. For what it's worth, this sounds about right to me. And more promising than Lander, even if it means KL leaving.
Oh and the media releasing it the week of our big day.... shock! May be true but impeccable timing as ever!
May or may not happen, but one day someone will buy the club....and however sensible for the clubs future that may be....some of the magic will be gone.
I am old and I like stability and continuity. In my long life I have seen all the changes I want to see and unfortunately they have usually been for the worse. I like things just as they are with our club. The Liebherr family have given us tremendous pride, success and respect in the football world plus the wonderful story of a great romantic rescue. I don't what the risk of an American or Chinese buyer coming along and ****ing it all up in the name of capitalist profit. I dread the thought of either owner when you look at their track records with other clubs.
Oddly, the most likely source of this information distracting from our Wembley appearance is...us. The Mail and Reuters articles both read very much like they were planted by the club, with the intention of putting a boot up the behind of Lander.
Absolutely agree with you but sadly the waves of time will envelope the club and we will move on to another hopefully exciting time in our turbulent history
I have read your comments with much interest over the past five years and for a sometimes grumpy and obtuse observer on life who seemed, at times, to enjoy the odd confrontation or twenty, you appear to be accumulating a lot of 'likes' these days. I am not so sure that the 'Old St Godders' may have been abducted by aliens...

If there is no further information available to what has already been published the article is redundant. However, Your point about withholding information is actually a good one that I'm sure happens relatively often. And as for the journalist not running a story unless he really knows what's going on... I'm not so sure! I appreciate you run in those circles, so I wouldn't paint all with the same brush, but journalists are not exactly famed for their integrity and honest approach to work!
Some of you are moany bastards. Kat is selling up simple as that, whether it is fully or partly. We just have to accept that we have no control over it, so why worry about it? Kat will do her best to find a good buyer and won't let just anyone buy us. As for the info being released now, so what? This is actually good news as Kat doesn't want to own us anymore.
You never know, it may be a different kind of magic. But just as special. As much as I dislike media driven football, we are entering an era where even provincial cities can have very successful clubs because it's not about takings at the turnstile anymore. Worldwide coverage can mean that, for example, Southampton could end up with just as many 'supporters' as any other club. It's all in the presentation.
Perhaps it's the fear of change.? Nobody from GB or Europe is going to buy Southampton FC. All that money is already tied up in many other sports and football clubs. Does anyone want Saints to be owned by a USA company.? Not me. Chances are that they would interfere too much. Of all the big economic powers, I think the Chinese are just possibly the safest. They're keen, but remote enough and wise enough not to interfere, yet with enormous financial reserves. Plus a supporters market which is a long, long way from capacity. SFC can't always be little Southampton FC of our memories. It will inevitably grow much bigger. There's always Eastleigh Spitfires if people want cosy and local. They should be a league club before too many more seasons.

May be in the same way we never have any offers for any of our players , but it suggests that at least nothing is close.
