Going by today's rules my parents were negligent as ****. They never knew what the **** we were up to as long as we turned up for mealtimes.

In the 60s and 70s Butlins had a baby alarm system that used to flash up telling people that a "Child was crying in chalet..whatever". That was the norm, no **** batted and eyelid that all the parents were out getting boozed up while the kids slept unattended.
