Got off the bus from Northwich in Warrington last night and decided I'd have a few pints in town before going home. Went to the Hop Pole by the bus station. I thought my next bus was 7.50 pm, but when I went out to catch it, the next one was due at 8.32 pm. Changed the times Phoned the unit to tell her why I'd be late. She got a lift home from a friend and when they went past the Cheese, the lights were on. They parked up and banged on the door until this bloke opened it. Long and short was he said he's been given two weeks to totally gut the place as the bloke who'd bought it was turning it into offices. She rescued a couple of memorial dominoes./ darts shields.

After she'd told me, I phoned Baccy Dave as he'd had a £50 bet on Sunday with Kev, who said the Cheese would be turned into offices. I told him it looked like he'd lost his bet and why, and he laughed and said he didn't think so, as he "knows more than me". He then hung up. He called back and told me to get to the Grange. There were a load of ex-Cheeseites in there. He told me he was sworn to secrecy, but that it was almost certain that it would return very soon as a pub. He said he's been in there and spoken to the area manager who said if Denice really had given him notice, it would have been open the following day with a relief manager.

He's just texted to say "Meeting going well at the minute". I haven't got a clue what's going on, but the bloke in there is there for security and not to gut the place, apparently. Watch this very confused space

Why would a pub chain have a meeting with a bloke who sells snide baccy?

 

They're not a 'pub chain'. They just own some pubs. All they care about is revenue. Dave hasn't gone into full detail, but it looks as though he might be intending to buy the lease. Intriguing

 

Has he got an actual business aside from dealing in snide baccy like?
