Great deal, and I'm loving the fact that all of our signings thus far have been young enough to be long-term fixtures on the team; Fox is 25, De Ridder is 24, Cork is 22.

If we get a good CB to match, we're going to be extremely tight at the back, and we'll score our fair share. Loving it.

I know very little about Fox as I only watch Southampton/champions league and top Premier league matches really, but it once again all looks very promising.

Burnley fans are annoyed he has gone
He is a proven Championship level performer who has featured at a higher level and has international experience.
He jumped at the chance to be here & is very positive about our chances of getting to the premier league...more positive than Burnleys anyway.

My one concern would be at 25 he has already been to a lot of clubs, but of course sometimes players take a while to settle, but all his transfers have been positive

Walsall - Coventry - Celtic - Burnley (Premier league).

I also think that fact he went from Everton youth down to Walsall will mean he should fit into our work ethic required by Adkins as he has had to cope with a set back to get to this level in the game

    Fourth Move in Three Years

Why has fox not been able to settle down into a team in recent years? I'm hoping we're not onto another Jason Puncheon here.

Fox says he wants to settle at a club and he's looking to do that at Saints. Seemed genuinely excited and said he was flattered that a big club like Saints wanted him (not sure how that will go down with Burnley fans). Phoned Cork to check up on us, so he has a friend who's also new to the club.

Us being bigger than Burnley is a given, apart from their brief prem stint, they have nothing on us.

Didn't know Cork was a left back? We now have 6 to chose from..!

Cork is LB for England u21s, but sure he'd rather play in MF.

I thought Cork filled in at RB for the U21's and can play CB too, but if he can play LB as well as his midfield positions he is one heck of a utility player!!

May be wrong about the LB bit. Don't expect to see him in defence for us though.

I could be wrong too! He can play in defence if need be, and like you I don't expect to see him playing there anytime soon but it's good to know he can! We seem to have a few utility players which could come in handy with the 5 sub rule, if it doesn't get changed of course.

I don't think it's about attitude. I think circumstances have worked against him. I've done a little reading up about him and I've looked at how he has gone through his clubs. Opportunities have come along for him and then better ones have turned up. So he has moved on, but at the same time has been keen to settle. So, if Saints maintain their ambition and form, and Fox likes the club and area, he could be around for quite some time. During my little read-up I realised that Fox has been signed with the idea of being added as one of the players who will play through into the Premiership, when it happens. Which makes me a little sorry for Harding because the Championship is his arena. I always feel slightly sorry for players who contribute greatly to a promotion winning club side, and yet I know, you know and even they know they won't make it to the higher division. Much as I admire Dan Harding for making the most of his ability, he isn't going to play in the Premiership with Saints, IMO.

Ah. I think I lost my way somewhere. :)
