any blues fans going on here to saturdays game we are in the boozer at liverpool st station before heading off to the essex chavs
wish I could be there, should be a cracker. I remember all too well the stoppage time penalty for them in 1999. Jason Dozell I believe? I was also at Layer Road for the FA Cup tie in 1996 - we beat them 2-1 even though one of our goals was a mile offside, cracking atmosphere, cracking day! I shall be listening from 300 odd miles away
those were the days devon remember them well.layer road was a dump but somehow it always had a good atmosphere
ah yes I remember, it had a see through bit to it as well. That ground was a hole although their new one isnt much better - to be fair you were close to the action at Layer Road. I seem to remember an incident in that game in 1996 at 2-1 to Wycombe, late in the game and Colu throwing everyone forward. Our keeper (John Cheesewright anyone?) tipped a Colu effort on to the bar and it bounced over the line -clear for every fan in the ground to see. Cousins punted it out in frustration and the ref waved play on. ahhh happy times
i also remember a game there where a couple of col u fans came on the pitch and were involved in setting up one of the col u goals but if i remember correctly we still won 2 -1
Morning Ian, so that twice we've been cheated out of a result, lets hope you dont get another chance on Saturday. If you're travelling over for the game, have a safe trip. Layer Rd. might have been past it's best before date, but the atmosphere was brilliant.
Afternoon Frank You are right, Layer Road was a dump but it had a good atmosphere - something some of these new arenas lack. I really like going to Luton - Kenilworth Road is an old style football ground with multiple stands and that, somehow, adds to the character.
