He's confirmed he'll make a decision on his future either next month or April, What do we think then, Is he staying or going ?
He said he will manage next season, whether at Arsenal or elsewhere, which suggest that he intends to stay if they'll have him, as why would he choose to leave, if he intends carrying on managing?
When Wenger retires they should certainly erect a bronze sculpture of him outside the Emirates - for all he has done for the club ... his main detractors are those Arsenal fans with deluded ideas of 'entitlement' and some bitter Spuds You can't really argue with this tbh: . Arsenal's trophies under Wenger Premier League (3) 1997-98, 2001-02, 2003-04 FA Cup (6) 1997-98, 2001-02, 2002-03, 2004-05, 2013-14, 2014-15 Community Shield (6) 1998, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2014, 2015 If you are going to - put up your club's record of success over the same period for comparison ... only Sir Alex Ferguson has a more succesful record in the modern era ... and that is all.
Well yes, you can argue with it as any league success ended 13 years ago and there is zero European success. Arsenal do not compete in the league or the Champions League. UEFA should throw them out of the champions league for not trying, give the place to a team who will actually try in the knockout stages. He created the ethos within Arsenal that they shouldn't be tackled and they shy away from the physical side of the game. It's pathetic. Wenger is a nice bloke and for a while was quite pioneering but the game is now passing him by. He should go before the witch hunt becomes too much, he doesn't deserve to be hounded out. He could probably find a nice easy stress free job in France and win a few more domestic knock out cups.
You're talking bollocks Fosse. If those titles were evenly spaced out over 20 years you might have a point. But it is plain to see that Wenger had it, but has now lost it. Mourinho has won the same amount of premier leagues as Wenger, in half the amount of seasons. Wenger has made no clear progression in Europe either, they have regressed if anything. It's quite clear based on the last 5 seasons especially, that Wenger does not have the ability to lead this club to further success, at home or abroad, so keeping him out of sentimentality is ****ing stupid. 3 premier Leagues in 20 years is a horrible return for a club that finishes in the top 4 every season.
So you wouldn't want a bronze of Jose outside the Bridge at some point? ... fair enough ... you named a stand after Matthew Harding ... all about perspective I guess. Personally I'd want a bronze of Ranieri outside the King Power in the future ... he acheived something at our club that has no precedent and is unlikely to be repeated ... in my view Wenger has done that for Arsenal over his tenure .. that you disagree is fine ... but it certainly isn't "bollox" ... his record is there for all to see. You note that I haven't commented on whether now is the right time for him to retire ... personally I think it probably is ... I hope your IBS improves as the day progresses ... perhaps stay off dairy products? (paricularly the sour milk )
He's lost most of the fanbase, and if the strong rumours are true he's also lost some of the dressing room. That only ever ends with one outcome. He should stand down with a bit of dignity and be remembered for what he's helped to achieve there.
I agree ... but one simple question ... would you have liked to have had him at your club and with that trophy haul? ... I suspect at least a quarter of fans of the current Prem clubs plus those of every club below that would say yes .. I could be wrong of course
The topic of the thread isn't about whether Wenger should get a statue. Why would anyone bar Arsenal fans care whether he gets a statue? It's whether they should keep him on as manager.
Don't get me wrong, as a Spurs fan I hope he stays. In fact, thinking about it, give him a 10yr extension contract!...
Whilst I hate to be pedantic the thread title is merely the man's name ... and Matth's question is whether or not we think he is staying or going ... My post was along the lines of "Whether he goes or not ...blah blah blah" ... we were not asked for our judgement on "... whether they should keep him on as manager" or not. This has been a public information broadcast on behalf of the "Read The Fcukin' Posts Properly Before Getting A Thistle UP Your Arse Advisory Board" Thank you.
Apologies, I thought you were advocating him staying. As fans of other clubs, we should all be advocating him staying really I am just not that cruel
