I actually think Spurs should be favourites for the Europa though or one of them. Looking at the fixtures last night there's barely any top top sides. No Sevilla or dortmund who hve done well recently. Surely you'd rather win the Europa and finish 5th or 6th in the league (considering the winner now gets into the CL) than finish 4th. It's about trophies!
If I supported them, and they were to put the eggs in one basket I'd sooner the europa TBH. Just my view

Ps. Poncetto was resting players for the Stoke game, he did it against Chelsea and that worked well for him.:emoticon-0136-giggl

Was listening to the commentary on the Spurs game on talkShite one of the commentators labeled the Spurs performance as being 'hapless' ... was it?

Also United rather fortunate to be 3-0 up against St Etienne...if the French side could finish that could easily have been a draw on the balance of play ... Ref also had a bit of love thing going on with Ibra... reminded me a bit of our own High Commissioner of the Limp Penis (or whatever our Spokespersons title is) deluded and rose tinted love affair with Quentin. :) ...Ibra could do no wrong despite flouncing around like a big girl for everyone else to see ... :)

I think the whole of English football needs a reality check. We're nowhere near as good as we like to think we are.

    Simple as..

Invariably we mainly always qualify nationally for all comps then the press get all jingoistic and the players actually believe they can win it....<laugh><laugh>

For me, it's like watching Spurs. I hope for the best, but always expect the worst.

England never disappoint. Spurs still do from time to time..

Or another way of looking at it is....I'd rather be 1 goal down with 90 to play instead of 4 regardless of the small crumbs of comfort such as its OK to get raped by Bayern....depends why I watch my team I suppose.

I'm far from ashamed of losing 1-0 last night.

Agree with you John Boy...I'd rather win it....like I said after the Pool game its Chelsea's league....I want us to go for the cups. I'll take Europa and 5/6 whatever.

  12. Again, you are not explaining this very well, Bobby Boy.

Let me put it another way.

Both Arsenal and Spurs have to play at home.

Do you think that Arsenal will turn it around against Bayern?

Do you think Spurs will turn it around against Gent?

Invalid comparison whereas Bayern are top, top draw and Gent are liken to Real Wycombe.

  14. Nah. We're too hit and miss, this season.

As others have said, English football seems to be in doldrums at the moment. Just because some of the names of teams still left in it aren't as well known as Real, Barca, PSG, or Bayern, doesn't mean that they are crap.

    I'm being realistic.

I think we have more chance of finishing top 4 than of winning the Europa.

I'd agree ... I might be tempting fate a little here but I do wonder whether our more direct style might give Sevilla a bit of a shock ... we certainly won't be trying to 'out European' them - we don't have that sort of player in abundance - and look what happened to Liverpool last season.

The facts are that the European teams are far better suited to that kind of game because it is what they do week in week out- whereas we have the hurly burly of the Prem ... United were actually outplayed for most of the first half last night, I thought the movement of the St Etienne players and the weight of pass was superb ... they just couldn't finish. <ok>
