Maya has been here a while and Stephens is one of our own....don't think they need an incentive. In fact we want Jack to play without fear...at his age, he will make mistakes....he mustn't be so afraid that he freezes. It will help him to have another experienced player to learn from.
Saving the number 6 for when Virgil changes his shirt number in the Summer to go along with his captaincy.
Going to stick my neck on the line and say that one of the things I like about Oriel is that he's happy at Saints. Properly happy. I like to think that he likes stability; he likes being one of the main players instead of being on the periphery, where he has been throughout his career previously; he likes enough the amount he gets paid, and I think Saints progress suits him. At this moment he is perhaps the most important player at SFC. That's a big step-up in 6 months.
Wonder if they have located Gaston's mate cup and straw at the back of a dusty cupboard.....is it worth springing for a new one if he only stays till the end of the season. Decisions, decisions.
Good to have him available but he hasn't played for a long time. Will have to really impress during training to get a starting place in the Final....bearing in mind, the lack of familiarity with his team mates. Still what do I (or anyone else) know about the workings of Claude's mind.
Well some good news, and boy did we need it. All this depressing news about an extra match against United has bought me as low as I can get! The guy has obviously been through a very difficult time. I hope the Southampton "family" can make him start to feel good about life again. Welcome, Martin!
Here it is. He is going to play one game (maybe not even a full game). He's going to score the winner at Wembley and then get injured the next week in training and never play again for Saints. He'll go a Legend. That's how you do it Ali Dia.....
Welcome to the club Martin.....I hope you have an enjoyable time.......Along with a winners medal of course.....!!
I'm sure he'd love to add to his list of honours: Barcelona La Liga: 2008–09 Copa del Rey: 2008–09 UEFA Champions League: 2008–09 Juventus Serie A: 2011–12, 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16 Coppa Italia: 2014–15, 2015–16; Runner-up 2011–12 Supercoppa Italiana: 2012, 2013, 2015; Runner-up 2014 UEFA Champions League: Runner-up 2014–15 Country Copa América: 2011 Southampton EFL Cup: 2016-17
I didn't realise he can also play full back. Maybe that's another option for Claude if it looks like Cedric is struggling at set pieces against Zlatan, Fellaini etc. I really hope he gets a few minutes at Wembley, but then that goes for the whole squad!
He isn't adding any height sadly....at 180 cm (), he is shorter than Maya (189 cm) and Jack (185 cm). Perhps one of the CBs could carry Clasie on his back for corners. 180 cm is 5'11 in real height....he's going to need considerably thicker socks.
He won't play in the final as he couldn't possibly bi in any kind of form, and as for the rest of the season goes, I'd rather that we give the time to Stephens. So I won't be at least bothered if he doesn't play a singe minute until the end of the season, only in case of injury or suspension to Yoshida or Stephens.
