The point was he wouldn't do it to a working class man. He did it to someone who is pretty much defenseless as a show of authority. He saw the person as beneath him. Disgusting. You never know the reasons why someone is homeless.
Agreed that the behaviour itself is disgusting. I note the 'victim' went to town in the media, playing on his victim hood. He seemed perfectly able bodied and lucid to me. He should have a shower and a shave, contact one of the many homeless charities out there, put some clean clothes on, and start getting back his self respect.
I work voluntarily at crisis and I wish it was that simple. Charities like crisis and shelter - who do wonderful jobs - are simply overwhelmed. Resting houses are lucky to have a computer to enable them to create CV's, apply for jobs, apply for housing etc Sad to see at Christmas where Harris academy opens up to host them for 7 days, the sheer desperation in their approach to take advantage of the number of computers and volunteers on hand to assist with certain key skills. They know when the door closes they have to wait another year (potentially) until they are afforded the same luxury.
I have got no time for Virtue Signalling. I also think that many of the homeless are not homeless, and manufacture their own problems to live a work-free life. Labour did more than most to try to tackle homelessness in London in the early 2000's - even Prescott concluded that for many it was a lifestyle choice. Some of the Left have seized upon it as a Virtue Signalling issue I am afraid.
I find field reasearch is more conclusive than second hand, but each to their own. At least they make for a good argument when discussing immigration. They do have their worth.
Being homeless- just imagine it for a couple of minutes. Having no home at all. Sleeping on the pavement. Horrendous. Sorry but I can't believe anyone would consciously choose such a ghastly existence.
