You claimed to be familiar with Spook's posts and seemed convinced that he was being serious. I'm not familiar, yet it was still obvious to me that he wasn't being serious, yet you chose to argue the toss. And I didn't call you sanctimonious just because you 'picked up on (Spook's) obnoxious post'; I called you it because you said to me "you're a blinkered fool and your thoughts are worthless." But fair enough, and no need to apologise. As you suggested to me last night; we all make ****s of ourselves sometimes
I'm only somewhat serious when it comes to football matters. When it comes to off-topic stuff, most of the time It's just ironic ****posting because it's a ****ing football forum. Fez can cry himself to sleep thinking I stand on street corners saying 'psst, hey kids, do drugs, they're awesome' for all I care. I won't lose sleep because of it. Might lose sleep because of the MD and coke though.
I am familiar with Spooks posts; I never said he was serious, I wasn't interested as there was no way of knowing. Try sticking with the facts. He threw out a gratuitous line endorsing encouraging kids to use drugs. Serious, mocking, piss-taking or just poor humour, it was poor and that's what I said. I still do and your defence of it is pathetic. Don't try the 'no need to apologise' line, you will not receive one, as you continue to make a **** of yourself as Spook plays his games.
Yeah it's not a Daily Mail approach, mate, it's a "I'd rather not snort cocaine" approach. I'd hate to think what drugs would do to me psychologically. Some sort of killing spree.
If your inability to grasp the subject was ever in doubt, that last line of yours would confirm it beyond reasonable doubt. I enjoy your posts, but you're way out of your depth on this one I'm afraid.
Are you disputing 'he' is revered too? The whole of ****ing Nottingham city centre tips a wink to his legend. Pete Heathrow was a ****, mind. Back to the point, it's impossible for anyone to claim Lennon isn't hugely revered in England and he was a massive smackhead. Some of the same people who love him are the first to line up to deride today's 'druggies'.
On point: I liked Lennon's music, but didn't have much time for the man; much the same for quite a few. I don't understand why you find it easy to appreciate a talent such as music, architecture, writing, whatever, but cannot seperate and dislike other facets of someones personality and lifestyle. Some people get beyond drugs and recover, some just never have the time. But, as I have said, it is the organised crime that distributes and cultivates the drug scene that I despise. Those that brag of using drugs and glory in their social achievement I just pity.
Fez, Pubs are the cornerstone of societies drug intake. Do you despise them too? How can alcohol not be the biggest gateway drug on the planet?
Having had my own pub I understand that some are poorly ran and others do okay. Drugs are everywhere, home, hotels, bars, restaurants, cars, streets, schools, need I go on? They are not the social responsibility of any one strand of society, but of everyone, a collective problem and responsibility. Do you despise supermarkets, as they push alot of alcohol? I spoke of organised crime - the drugs I refer to are illegal, drink, within bounds, is not - organised crime is a cancer in society and drugs, social or not, are their lifeblood. There is also the other criminal, obnoxious side of drugs, those who use them to influence (groom) the young and vulnerable in society. I think shallow arguments and pathetic attempts at being cool and socially dismissive are more a fitting reflection of those who use and big-up drug use.
I wasn't focussing on you in particular, but see why you ask; but your posts do tend to beg the question.
Odd, as I a) never said I appreciated Lennon's talent and b) never said I didn't appreciate him as a person.
But you brought that aspect into the discussion as your pivotal point; so you were simply being argumentative and have no belief in the argument you made?
Drugs are drugs and you're a hypocrite to suggest otherwise. It's interesting to me that the two of the main objectors on this thread were former drug peddlers themselves. Surely based on your arguments, you agree that drugs that are currently illegal should be legal in some way?
My opinion didn't come into it whatsoever. I thought I - quite clearly - made the argument that it is ludicrous that some of the same people who revere Lennon label Doherty, Winehouse et al as "smackhead wasters".
