Humdinger of a fall he had boys and don't horses off the back of a fall have like a zero point something % record of winning at the Festival? I don't think he likes going that way round either and I'd have some doubt's whether he's a dour enough stayer for it (JLT type maybe more so IMO). He'll likely run a cracker at Aintree or Punchestown again so I can see him being kept for them instead. We shall see but hard to see him winning an RSA off that run.
Agree on Bellshill Beefy, he's quite an enigma that boy. Still some hope for Invitation Only? really interested in his next run because if he proves his wellbeing I like his chances of a good showing on spring ground in March. We will see though. Judging by exchanges it looks like my double up with Crack Mome has gone for a burton- friendless and drifted to silly money.
Getting towards last chance saloon for Invitation Only, think there's a chance he'll run this weekend. If he doesn't it looks unlikely he'll be running at Prestbury. His defeat the last day doesn't look the worst form in the world now and if he had an issue after it which it seems he had he's entitled to take his chance assuming he gets a run. In saying that there's no standout Neptune horse around so they might roll the dice anyway without a run if they can get him right at home. Who knows. Such a strange festival with 99% of races so open bar a few, usually there's a good few horses you can nail down at this stage as nigh on good things, very different this year.
Finians Oscar looks a standout Neptune horse to my eye Beefy. He'd be odds on if he were trained at Closutton.
Not sure on that at all mate, absolute muck that Tolworth was Finians won. Yorkhill won a better race last year and he went off 4/1 in the Neptune
Finians Oscar hasn't broken sweat yet though, he glides through his races and looks as though he has another 3 gears left if needed. Miles ahead of anything I've seen in the division and a worthy fav
It's a very valid point though Oddy in Yorkhill, what a fecking price he was, with Yanworth taking up so much of the market. What you say re FO, certainly applied to Yorkhill too and as you imply, he did come from a yard who know plenty about winning Neptunes so he certainly wasn't underpriced I know Finians was hugely rated winning his point over here, Potts done well to acquire him. Wonder where he'll be trained next season when he has a strop
Oddy I have read the odd twitter whisper (not from anyone notable but amongst discussion elsewhere) that it's not done and dusted that he goes the Neptune. The Supreme looks so open this year that there is the possibility that he has an easier race? He strikes me as a horse who would suit a Neptune but he'd have to be favourite in a Supreme this year. Only Charli Parcs catches my eye in that.
Where's this Neon Wolf going boys? He looks the best novice on your side of the sea to me. Think he'd be a sight in a Supreme pouring it on from the front.
I backed Finians Oscar at 16s for the Supreme because I think he has the speed and slick hurdling to win it. That was before I saw Melon though. Those the 2 novice hurdlers who have made me go "oooooohhhh" this season.
Bunk Off Early caught the eye hugely regarding the supreme yesterday. The better ground at HQ and drop back to 2 miles and he's a serious contender now too. So many imponderables.
You could also view yesterday's race along the lines of "Bunk Off Early handled the softer ground better than his rivals but didn't have a change of gear" - he then looks a ****e bet for the Supreme on spring ground Just saying like ........................
He looks to have everything to me. He blew a decent horse of Alan Kings out of the water, I guess the reason he ain't jolly is the 'If'... EDIT: Memory lapse on races classification
The pace of the supreme will tee it up well for him too. A horse that will almost be guaranteed to be carrying home some prize money for connections as far as I can see so far. Not sure I'd be 100% for him winning it though. He didn't look like he was at ease on the ground to me personally, but people see things I may not in horses.
Ah my mistake, I incorrectly thought the Boxing Day Kempton race Elgin won (with Jenkins as a fav if I recall, whatever happened him, he was fav for this one time ) was a Grade 1
