Afternoon all. Only 40 parcels today so rattled them out in an hour and a half. Now to try and sort things out on here. But i see things are going nicely and problems are resolving themselves. All is good.

I am sure it was fair and square we won the League :) I had a season ticket for my last cople of years of civvy life so they were spent sitting in the stand above the players entrance, always used to enjoy using the players entrance to get into the ground. God them were the days:)

Has anyone yet worked out why you get different numbers of points, user and poster points, each time you contribute, and why random numbers of them get removed?

There seems to be no logical reason to the system. Have I missed something?

Can't find an explanation but I think today they have taken all Tags away (no points deducted though) and taken the Rep button away and deleated all points previously gained from that.

At least that's what appears to have happened but no official notice yet.

Not knowing costs you 100 points; missing things incurs a 50 point penalty <laugh> And don't own up to either - you'll get a visit one dark night

Sorry OFH. I was just about to let people know. I have been busy so had only just noticed the announcement on the mod board

They have been deleted because the tags have been abused over on General Chat and people were applying racist, homophobic and generally offensive tags. This meant that if someone searched for anything along those lines either on the site, or on google those threads would appear. This ruins the sites image and gives a very bad impression to guests.

I am not certain why the rep button has been removed because people were giving negative rep and leaving offensive comments.

There was no way to disable the comments on the rep so Mick had to go the whole hog and remove it fully.

Well Tags have to be in place for the site to prosper so he better think of a way of doing it automaticly maybe from the thread title. Or a way of not allowing certain words to appear in the same way it won't allow you to type Scunthorpe because it has a swear word in it's letters - Scu nthorpe

Otherwise under the old system mods will be working around the clock to delete abusive tags.

That sounds pretty fair to me. <laugh>

Thank you BHD, I am still curious though about the number of points given to a post though. It looks as if you get more if there is no one much about, but your late nights might show if that is true.

I am not 100% sure of this, but i think that a basic post like this one will give you a few points, then one with a reply gives you slightly more, then multi-replies give you more, and ones with attachments or videos give you more. I dont know about timings, but if you want you can go to the experience section of your profile there is a list of your experience gained and when. That might help.

Why do we care about tags - I have never used them to find anything; similarly reps - wasn't it all a bit childish - "ooh you wrote something nice and good you can have a gold star" and as for points and levels - what difference doe sit make to anything

I like the idea of repping a post, its like giving a thread 5*'s and it feels nice to know your work is appreciated. The tags allow you to search threads easier, but very few people ever use that capability.

True about the Rep points Leo but the Tags were encouraged because the search engines pick them up so people find the site more when searching the internet. therefore making it more prosperous so he will have to do something about that I would think.

Also, just testing others theory as to whether you get extra points for replying with a quote - I don't think so btw!
