Yeah, most Italians would say the same, I believe. It makes sense. Making dried pasta was storing up plenty against hardship. It became the main way to have pasta. But they don't wheel out streets of selected people to make fresh pasta on these TV Italy tours just for the cameras. Plenty of Italians still make fresh pasta for same day use. I pretty much only use dried pasta, but I certainly don't rule out using fresh.

Just reading back thereisonlyoneno7's post: I'm also a confirmed curry cooking person, as you probably know. I've found it amazing how much crossover there can be between the Italian and Indian.

    Yeah, so I've read. :)

In my case, you probably remember me deciding that my love of Indian curries wasn't going to stop at going to restaurants three times a week, so I learned to cook Indian. So about 30 years ago, I got some fantastic Indian recipe books which I rarely use anymore because I invent. It was only a few years ago that I realised that some Indian recipes that I was cooking could be adapted to Italian. In some cases one just changed the spices and one or two things here and there, like polenta or pasta instead of basmati rice. Or keeping rice, but changing it to a risotto type, like carnaroli, maratelli or arborio.

BTW, St Helen, if you end up reading this - that stew was rescued. Tastes pretty damn good now. ;)

Avalanche in Tignes killing four. Very sad. Worked there for a season in my 20s. Great place - like Val d'Isere without the tossers.

So I've got to write a motivational letter for a job on english language, is anyone here willing to take a look and point out some glaring mistakes or bad constructions, if there are any?

2 Actors are mixed up by Burberry...embarrassing...yes. Racist no....the two actors look very much alike. Recently someone confused Trump and an American actor....was that racist? I'm beginning to think that modern people are becoming too sensitive to survive....especially on behalf of others rather than themselves. I doubt the actors would do more than roll their eyes....if you really get offended when mistaken for others, I would say get over yourself. Take offence when someone is being offensive, not when they make an error.

Trump is soooo unpresidential. Took at huge swipe at Meryl Streep. Said that Alec Baldwin's impression of him 'stinks'. It's actually OK. The humour is American, of course:

Computer technicians out there (windows 10): I turn my computer on and get the following message

    No boot device available
Strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility
Press f5 to run onboard diagnostics

Turning off and on again gives the same message, I've run the diagnostics and it doesn't come up with any issues. I've tried googling but can't seem to find something that could solve it

Suggest you get to the BIOS and see whether your system hard disk is being identified. If it isn't, there is your problem, right there.

Also, remove any external storage USB disks. The computer may be trying to boot from the wrong device.

Let's hope the person I was aiming the advice at did.

Here's hoping that computer is OK, because 'no bootable device' is not the sort of thing you want to see when you're keen to get the computer started. By and large, it tends to take a while.
