More than half of the "social protection" aka welfare is pensions. Couple that with the healthcare costs and it's clear that we need people to die younger and more quickly if we're to pay off the national debt.

State pension is not a benefit it is a right that every working person pays for in the form of National insurance payments.

Indeed. It is part of the overall welfare budget, which costs the economy more than anything else.
Some people's pensions are supplemented by benefits, though.

Pensions don't cost the economy because we ****ing pay for them. This is the **** that people get fed and the dumb ****s believe it. Old people are a drain on the economy because they get state pension.

Sorry folks but most those people have payed into the system for 40 or 50 years and when it comes for them to retire the get a pittance. One of the worst state pensions in Europe.

Wake the **** up people. Our goverments are pissing on your heads and telling you it's raining.

But but but...it's immigrants who are a drain on the economy. Even though they nearly all work and pay tax.

And it was the EU wot caused the banking crash. Not the the assorted currency dealers, loan sharks, spivs and chancers the banks employed to gamble with the wealth of nations, who then got bailed out with public money when they ****ed up. It's the Polish bus drivers (I know plenty) and Romanian cleaners who are to blame.

The pot is empty because George Osbourne emptied it, you absolute wing nut. By allowing the exchequer to underwrite the losses of the banks (which was actually the correct thing to do, and which he originally opposed), then refusing to raise taxes or borrow money when interest rates were at rock bottom and Britain had a AAA credit rating. Thus sucking investment out of a failing economy and prolonging a recession that was coming to an end when the previous govt got booted out in 2010.
