True, the thickening comes from the released starch from cooked potatoes, etc... In my case, nothing. Just a warm version of what I put in about 6.5 hours earlier.
I can sort of watch Titanic, purely because of the Southampton connection. Forest Gump is a no-no, despite the usually excellent Tom Hanks. I also found Avatar a complete waste of time [another James Cameron film].
Yeah, Avatar bored me rigid as did The Hurt Locker - just didn't care what happened to the characters which I think is the worst thing you can say about a film.
So would I. Here's the reasoning. 1] I was talking to an elder sister about slow cookers and she said I could borrow one to try out [this one]. 2] I said, Great, but won't that deprive you and she said no, we've got another one. 3] Why the hell has she got another one when this classic Prestige one is meant to be as good as they come.? Answer: She replaced it with another one because it wasn't working as it should and she forgot. Seems an odd conclusion.? Bit harsh.? Believe me, that older sister could easily have forgotten. 3 times I've used it. 3 times it has been pretty damn crap.
Yeah, get a replacement, this one's just useless! You don't even need to get an expensive one, mine came from Aldi's about 5 years ago and though I don't use it every week it does get used often and I've had no problems with it (I've probably jinxed myself now!)
Never seen that. Even less tempted to do so now, if that were possible. BTW, 20 mins on the stove in the big pan. The stew is coming along very nicely now.
No risk involved Helen, it's superb. I'm not normally a fan of musicals but this one had me hooked from the first brilliantly filmed production number. And there are some fantastic jazz instrumental numbers mixed in with the songs. Ryan Gosling apparently learnt jazz piano specially, so it didn't look like he was miming.
Yes, I think I remember that one. It was the one that sparked my interest in what was possible in a slow cooker. Should have bought that. Instead of which I borrowed the Prestige. And talking of which - The Prestige is an excellent film.
Good to know. A musicals loving friend has seen it and loves it so I'm quite confident that I'll like it
It's on my to-watch list (as are thousands of others!) In fact, I think I've recorded it fairly recently...
There's another 'magician' film released in the same year [2006] called The Illusionist. It stars Edward Norton, and on a good day you might even say it was better than The Prestige. I like them both equally.
Yep. Incidentally, the young girl, who falls in love with the young lad, turns out to be played by Eleanor Tomlinson, ie Demelza Poldark. Only learned that recently. I lot can happen in less than 10 years.
Talking of which, they've been filming Series 3 down the road in Wells recently. Looking forward to seeing who they cast as Morwenna and Drake, not to mention Sam and Ossie.
Really.? Of course, you're not a zillion miles away from Bristol, where they do practically all the interior scenes in the studio. A few months back, when I was keen on looking up Poldark locations, simply because I recognise so many of them from holidays spent in Cornwall, I noticed that quite a few other film locations are around your neck of the woods. EDIT: As to Sam, Drake, Morwenna and Ossie, they gave us a peek in the trailer. What about Morwenna's naughty sister.?
