They already had Mullins over !! Afternoon chaps, just here to see Don Poli gallop them all stupid in the Irish GC
Sumptuous round of jumping from Disko. I'm sure I had him in my 10 to follow last season .......... or the season before. That was superb.
Finishing the day up with Minella Rocco. There's a danger he could get outpaced on a track like Leopardstown but it has played well so strong stayers today and he certainly stays- we know that.
Lovely run from Disko and a nice ride by Sean. Our Duke did well too and you can see he will appreciate the extra few furlongs that 3 miles and beyond will give him. Bellshill and Bleu Et Rouge disappointed. Glad to see the former up ok. BER jumps poorly in the main and can't afford that many mistakes trying this level.
He was a good bumper horse and barring one 6th place finish he has either won or placed so maintaining that standard very well.
Should be bang there judging on his few runs before his fall lto. Make cases for plenty and again I can't split them and will be happy to see a deserved winner in it. The sentimental part of me will be rooting for Carlingford Lough to join the list of hat-rick winners.
Carlingford Lough is such a ****ing beast horse, excellent run, even more so considering the **** ride Barry gave it
Sizing John- welcome to the stayers division. Been excellent in the Douvan generation and now he is showing what a lovely chaser he is.
Winner done well, problem i have with these irish horses though ala Djakadam, Outlander, Don Poli, Road to Riches, Sizing John, First/Sub Lieutenant, is on a going day any of them can beat any of them. They're good horses but nothing special and are not going to challenge seriously in the CGC in terms of winning
Have a look back at Carlingford Lough winning previous races and tell me what Barry did differently than them days...all his race descriptions read the same "held up in rear", "held up rear, appeared held" and so on so forth.
Travelled really well throughout did Sizing John but I'd fear for him coming up the hill at the end of the Gold Cup.
Off topic .... Oddy, you mentioned Big Bill Werbenik (spl?) on yesterday's thread when I spoke about the Snooker Shoot Out ... Well we all knew, back in the day that he drank a lot, and that it was supposedly "on medical grounds" - but I didn't realise the extent of it until reading about him after his death. 3 pints downed before he even reached the table, one pint per frame plus another during the intervals How the heck did he ever manage to play? Personally, I'd be bladdered after frame two
This Hunters Chase is intriguing. On the Fringe vs Foxrock on his home turf. OTF just blowing off the cob webs I wonder ???
