I know you're satirising it but it does amaze me when people claim that it evens itself out over a season. How could that possibly even work? It's just bullshit spread by the stakeholders and surprisingly/unsurprisingly swallowed en masse.
Oh it definitely evens it self out. There is usually an even layer from beginning to end with the occasional exceptionally deep bits when it comes over your head.
Yes indeedy..its usually spouted out more by the "big" boys who actually get the decisions "their" way more often than not..Lost count of the red cards and pens given against City now..

Good point from Kamara that the wording regarding hand ball is worded with regard to defenders and a new amendment should be made covering a ball going into the net from a handball whether accidental or not. Interesting that Reid demonstrating how he used to go in for a tackle had his hands in exactly the same positions as Sanchez. Doesn't alter the fact that the linesman should have flagged as he had an uninterrupted view.
Its true to life when it comes to making decisions...The quite guy at work who gets on with the job is more likely to be moved to accomodate the intimidating opinionated loud mouth who causes unease...ie the big clubs with the big crowds and the superstar players and elite managers intimidate the refs... Human instinct in most cases im afraid At least we have a level playing field against Burnley next match
Yet there have been people on here decrying the calls for loud vocal support which apparently spoils their quiet contemplation of the game and chatting with their mates and swapping videos on the basis noise doesn't inspire players as they aren't aware of it as they are concentrating on the game. I wonder if they claim referees are influenced by the noise of the crowd or not?
Yes. Yet we have many fans who justify sat in silence on the basis that I is up to the team to entertain them and score to give them something to cheer about. We aren't in a theatre for ****'s sake. Years ago people were in the ground ages before the kick off singing and creating an atmosphere. Now they take their seats at the last minute, listen to some choreographed music and introductions and settle down demanding to be entertained. The Kop, Stretford End, Gallowgate End etc weren't renowned because people stood there demanding to be entertained before they could be galvanised into showing some enthusiasm. You still see fans turning up early in a lot of European stadiums and creating an atmosphere but it has virtually stopped here where a lot of games are akin to being in a theatre. One reason a lot of us oldies find it increasingly easy to forgo the modern "match day experience".
Think seating hasnt helped here. I would stand again tomorrow in terraces if it was available..Yet the KCom has given us our finest moments..Still think our best atmosphere was the 2008 run in towards play offs when we all started to realise " This could happen" which must have helped the team on the pitch..As a fellow oldie my love in with Football these days is hit and miss..
The next modern " match day experience " for this oldie will be Brazil v Argentina this June at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
I don't want it to be like that. I do not want to be packed into terracing trying to keep on my feet on piss soaked terrace steps, where if the blokes in front of you are tall, you see **** all. The pungent smell of piss, beery breath and tabbaco, does nothing for my matchday experience. This nostalgia for the past is based on rose tinted glasses. It makes no difference if you sit and cheer or stand and cheer. As long as you cheer.
Of course you won't consider having areas where those wishing to stand can do so and those wishing to sit can. Like Germany. Oh no, you refer to the type of terracing from years ago, not what is availabke now.Maybe there should be a seated area where only nonsmoking teetotalers are allowed so as not to spoil the match day experience of those with sensitive olfactory systems. And no perfumes or aftershaves either.
