Resounding victory for Wednesday in the end!!! 3-0 So we're now 5 points behind having played the same number of games and their GD is 9 compared to our 8. Yes, we may well make the play-offs, but we've made it very hard for ourselves.
For about the 3rd or 4th window I wanted us to get Rhodes. People said he can't lead the line how we play. (I wouldn't set up how we play, if we had a scorer like him) He scored tonight. Set-Piece to him heading in. Winnall Who were were linked to and I said he's a good striker and worth a punt. He scored too. They also got Fletcher we were linked to, and took Hooper for nothing. Wednesday will be top 6
Well I, for one, am extremely pleased we didn't waste our money on lazy man Rhodes, and as for Fletcher, you have to be joking! Ask Sunderland fans what they think of Fletcher!
Both you and KIO are flogging a dead horse JM. The Smith dynasty is destined to last for a while longer yet, I think, and anyway I have serious doubts as to whether any upheaval on that front, will suddenly turn us into a Premier League regular. This idea that all we need are some wealthy owners, and we´ll soon start to make progress, just doesn´t necessarily stand up. There are equally as many clubs (in fact in these times where wealthy owners are the rule rather than the exception) probably more clubs, with wealthy benefactors, that are struggling, as there are that are prospering. In some peoples´ views, Delia might be a relic from the Stone Age, but in my opinion there´s a far greater stumbling block than madam, to us becoming an established Premier League club, and it´s one we can´t do a thing about - location. To stay an established, or as you say, even a semi-established PL club, we have to continually attract the best players, and a lot of the best players, and particularly best players´ wives, won´t come and live out on a limb, they want to be in and around London or the other major cities, so clubs in those locations will always attract first. The same sort of problem that Swansea have got, the same sort of problem that Bournemouth have got, despite both having wealthy owners. Even without money, we may think we´re an attractive proposition, but even with, many players don´t, I´m afraid.
Excellent post RBF and I can't argue with any of your reasoning - especially the comment re location and I've often said so in some of my previous posts!!!! You only have to look at Wolves to see how all their Chinese money has been more of a hindrance than a help to them this season.
FML, you are guilty of believing lazy journalists, I would hazard a guess that AN was never interested in either of those two!
Oh right. I bet 9/11 never happened either. I heard that in the media. Never been to New York myself. Probably made it up!
Not arguing that our location isn't every WAGs first choice but by the same token shouldn't a west London club with a wealthy backer like QPR be doing better. Obviously more to it than where your team is located.
I was being overly sarcastic Dave. It wasn't even subtle. No toys out of any prams. Seems to be your new phrase for when someone has a joke or disagrees with you.
m You´re absloutely right Hairy, even with money and location, some won´t flourish, but I didn´t say location was the only reason, although certainly it plays a big part in some players´ minds when deciding between clubs.
I've seen you commenting about prams and toys a lot resonantly. I'll point it out next time it happens, later today
