I would say that Kante has been replaced, but just with a kid that's not ready. Amartey has plenty of potential but he's not consistent enough. However Ndidi looks like he's a seriously good find though. Shown some big potential for us.

Mendy's injury was a big blow. We put all our eggs in one basket and it backfired.

Our problem is that we focused too much on not losing the squad and not enough on beefing it up enough. We needed to get defenders in as well as an attack minded midfielder. We've failed in two transfer windows to do that.

In hindsight, selling both probably would've been better if it meant Leicester reinvesting the money wisely.

At the time though, if I were a decision maker at Leicester, I'd have perhaps sold Vardy for the £20m Arsenal were offering, a 29 year old guy who's had just one good season at top level football, it's a great offer to receive in fairness. Though with Mahrez, he's still young and after last season, IF he could've had a similarly productive one this year then his value would've been colossal this coming summer for any interested party.

<laugh> What does that even mean?

Yes, we're no Manchester United or Real Madrid. We're not the biggest club to ever win the league but we were in a very good position in the Summer, there's absolutely no way we should have just rolled over and let the big clubs take our players. We were right to keep them but we were wrong to not go out and beef the squad up.

Getting quite sick of the "oh they're back where they belong" attitude, it's nonsense to be honest. No, **** that. We showed last season that nobody "belongs" anywhere in this country. The "the small clubs belong at the bottom and the big clubs belong at the top" attitude is just modern football in an absolute nutshell. No club has a limit on success. It's patronising in the extreme. We won the league and are in the Champions League. As far as I'm concerned, that's quite an achievement. Sick of the patting on the head mentality that we get from the media and fans from other clubs.

We earned our right to spend time in the spotlight. We shouldn't have to leave because we should realise our limitations. Nah, that's bollocks.

If you'd have asked most Leicester fans, this time last year, if they'd take winning the PL then going back to struggling the season after, I'm guessing most would have ripped your arm off. I know that, as a Saints fan, I'd take that deal all day long.

At least you said the last bit for me <laugh>

It means that with the size and quality of your squad, you weren't in a position to consolidate where you could be ready to challenge for honours, every season. You were nowhere near ready.

I fully agree with the second bit I have highlighted. Fair play <ok>

Hmmm just a couple of points ... we spent more money this summer than we ever have in our history ...

Secondly ... and as the article alludes ... we weren't just the best team in the EPL last season ...we also got more points than any other team in the EPL in the last quarter of the season before last (and that without the marvellous N'Golo Kante). If you were going to predict last seaso's finishing positions based on the last quarter of the previous season ... <whistle> ... you'd be quite well off.

We won away at Everton, West Brom, Newcastle, Swansea and Man City scoring 3 goals in each .. that's got nothing to do with a 'magic carpet' ... that's just being able to score more goals than your opposition - simple but effective ... but way more important, we also showed the resolve and teamwork to grind out results when the pressure was on ... something Spurs, in particular, and Liverpool before them, were unable to do when in with a chance of winning the title.

What was very predictable was that we would not replicate last season this ... and I doubt any Leicester fans thought we would ... but also, admittedly, would not have thought we could be as poor as we have been.

A major factor has been the decline of our centre back pairing ... and that really is the biggest dilemma faqcing Ranieri right now.

But where were our limitations? Sorry but it reads as though you think we weren't in a good enough position to go out and sign good quality players despite being Champions of England and in the Champions League because we're just little old Leicester. That's nonsense.

We obviously were in a fantastic position but we cocked it up. We needed to sign players but the board and Ranieri decided to reward our heroes and guarantee them starting spots and big contracts. In hindsight that's a mistake.

We clearly were in a superb position to go out and get some very good players, we just didn't take the opportunity.

Love the way you try to reinvent history ... you were all over our board like a rash after we humped you in the first game of the season with your predictions of our imminent doom ... how did that work out btw ? <laugh>

You won the league and I thought you'd get relegated. Just like 99% of the country.

    Just cry, Fosse...

PS The only time I had a tear in my eye was when Andrea Bocelli serenaded us whilst we were being presented with the EPL trophy ... a world away from your green eyed little mutterings ... Saddy ...

It means he's a Sunderland supporter and has accepted that his footballing world will be one of mediocrity and relegation dodging (or not) <rofl>

We dared to dream and the dream came true ... for some that's a nightmare <laugh>

The vast majority of the country didn't think we'd get relegated an a hell of a lot of the country still don't.

If you asked Leicester fans this time two seasons ago they would have been happy not getting relegated ....it's quite the Fox tale these past 3 seasons .
