needed to be a win tonight imo, that would have shown our intention, Wigan arent setting the world alight and we have yet to perform in the big games, disappointing to have so much of the play and again fall apart at the back in 5 minutes of madness. I guess with some changes at the back there could still be some settling down period but we havent got the games left now to slip up. disappointing.

Don´t think there was anything wrong with our intent, just with our ability to defend set-pieces. Any point away, doesn´t matter who it´s against, is a good point, and had this game happened and unfolded in the way it did, only a matter of weeks ago, we would probably have lost 2-1, so be thankful for small mercies. If we end up scraping into the top six by one point, we may yet remember Wigan with fondness.

Two ways of looking at RBF, equally them two points lost could see us miss out on play offs, my point was it was disappointing (again) wasnt trying to be overly negative and the intent going forward into the next game. Our biggest problem is inconsistency but we are by no means out of the race yet but we are getting close, as i said in a previous post i can't see us getting away with more than a couple of losses and draws at the rate the others are winning.
 
I think we are all hanging on to a dream of a top 6 finish but the reality seems to be that it will not happen. Wigan away against a team in the bottom 3 of league should have been a win if we are to catch up with 6th place. There is a problem with this team whether it's an incompetent manager or a group of players not up for the fight it's difficult to tell.

In the interest of objectivity, as a result of our draw with Wigan, we are now second behind Huddersfield in the form table. We've taken 13 points from our last 6 matches. Other than Huddersfield on 15 points and Newcastle (who are behind us on goal difference), the other teams above us have all taken fewer points. IMO, there is no 'reality' in football - we may overtake other teams or we may not, but a prediction about the next 16 games according to last night's result has very little objective evidence to support it. The form table can and will change, but we need to also consider that we have played 2 more away games than home games, so 9 of those last 16 matches will be at home where we have been much stronger throughout the year. That we've taken 4 points from our last 2 away games could indicate that we're improving there as well. It isn't about a 'dream', it's about how we play for those last 16 matches.

My point was directed to the current question as to whether we've 'turned a corner' yet. Three home wins in a row was the first indication but there was still the question as to whether we could improve our away form. It's only two games to be sure, but it's more than just 'one swallow...' when combined with the improvement in our home form which will now be tested again against Forest and Newcastle. Those 13 points from 6 games are the performance we need. The key now is keeping this form going consistently for the last 16 games.

Don't disagree with that Rick, but those away stats are abysmal, and have got us into the position where we're not even sure we'll make the play-offs.

I agree there are some signs of improvement, and as you say, we'll know more after the next few games. I'm certainly not ready to throw in the towel just yet!

Put it this way if I Forgot_My_Lines came to to me and expressed his distress that his girlfriend may be cheating on him , she goes out every other weekend and he hasn't had sex with him since 1st October.
He then gets lucky 5 months later only for her to go out the following Tuesday came back pissed and made him sleep on the couch .
I would still advise him that there is cause for concern and it will take more than a limp wristed hand job away at Wigan to convince me anything has changed.

Yes but in 2015 we it was accepted by our board that our manager was struggling and we replaced him, but that's not going to happen in 2017
