Away from punk anyone else like lynrid skinnryd free as a bird .I apologise if I spelt the bands name wrong .just love that song.if I wasn't so old and not computer literate I would put the you tube video up on here
I went to the last gig at The Roundhouse, a few months before she passed . What a night. Attended by members of every band you can think of. Pretty much the only band, apart from PIL and Krautrockers that John Lydon loves. He loved them and so did I. My 15 year old loves them.
Another favourite of mine and I'm sure will be well liked on here was Elvis Costello I DON'T WANNA GO TO CHELSEA
A mate of mine went to Loughbrough University in '81. God knows why, he hated sport and sportsmen. He had a mohican and was picked on by everyone except the Ents. people. They got him into DJ-ing and he played the full version of Free Bird as the last track every Saturday night. Memories.
Although I harked back to the music before my era - punk, new wave etc, I grew up with The JAMC, The Fall, The Smiths, The Wedding Present, The Primitives etc. The mid '80s was a great time for non mainstream music with the rise of indie labels. Anyone else into those bands?
I had a mate into The Sisters Of Mercy. 5 minute Gothic dirges weren't my thing - anything over two minutes is wasted!
