I just bought on vinyl Nicks 3 albums . These are reissues , no success and topped himself so young , suffered from depression . His music of the highest quality will always be around . His posh sister was on Crossroads .
In the parlance of the time Ms Drake was and still is........'Phwoar'. Given her stunning role in UFO........Science Friction by XTC. I've still got it, Baby.
And whilst we're on the subject of UFO, the bassist of this lot, the wonderful Paul Gray, went on to play for......The Damned..........oh yeah, and then, UFO.
I read that as Mr Drake and was dramatically reassessing how I saw you! Anyway, was Gabrielle Drake phwoar? Yes. Yes she was.
I got to drink with Mickey Finn in Norwood on numerous occasions from 1993 until his death 10 years later. He lived just down the road. A sweet but terribly lost soul. He knew of my love for The Damned and always reminded me of it before tapping me and my mates for a few bob. One of my mates from that time was reputed to have the longest pockets in the world, even he must have lent Mickey enough money to buy a half decent car. Cheers, Mickey, from the lads at the old Beulah Spa.
Did you know that Captain Sensible wrote Smash it Up Part I on the day of Marc Bolan's death to commemerate the loss of his friend? Only years later did he think that the manner of Bolan's death and title of the song were a bit off.
