That is something that any manager coming in to Arsenal will have to consider, because I really do not think that the fans will give the new guy any greater leeway than managers have been given at 'Pool or United. I cannot imagine that Gooners would put up with us finishing above them for two seasons, for example, whilst the new bloke finds his feet.
That's exactly the point I made and posted at the same time as you! I cannot see Gooners putting up with the ridicule from Spurs fans, whilst Simeone finds his feet. The club is going to have to give any new manager at least three seasons to get up a head of steam and to build his squad. That might just be bearable, if the team is playing attacking football, but I cannot see the Gooners putting up with Moyes/Hodgson tactics and getting trounced week in and week out, and finishing 5th for two seasons on the trot.
I think Ozil would be in for a shock under Simeone, but a player like Sanchez is cast in his mould. As for the rest of the team, he'd obviously need to reshape and get them to adapt to his style, which let's face it is more defensively minded. Personally I think players like Koscielny, Mustafi, Gabriel, Bellerin, Monreal, Coquelin, Xhaka, Elneny, Cazorla, Sanchez, Giroud and Walcott would flourish under his stewardship. I also think some of the younger players like Iwobi, Ox and Holding would benefit from more discipline and input during games, as Wenger seems to give them their instructions and then sit back and let them get on with it.
Barca will win the league, Madrid will sack Zidane and the club will jump at the chance of getting him. Was listening to the radio the other day and some Spanish journalist was saying it's the league this year for Madrid over anything else or Zidane could be out.
Oh dear, you two have done well this evening, let's not get all Argie Bargie now please log in to view this image
No 'argie bargie' from me. Comparing Simeone to Koeman is a stretch, but I just think it's a bit of a joke to describe Simone as having the same tactics as Moyes/Hodgson.
I don't think that a number of those players have the workrate, discipline or attitude for Simeone, to be honest. Most of the defenders would probably be ok and I'd add Mertesacker to the list, but Walcott? Really?
Yep really, Walcott works really hard. He's probably one of our better players at tracking back and helping out the RB too.
Once upon a time, Hodgson might have been seen as a good fit for Arsenal, whose money-grabbing board would have seen him as a very safe pair of hands. I think he was treated appallingly by 'Pool, whose fans never took to him. I'm not saying that Hodgson would be a good fit for Arsenal, now, of course, as I think he has well and truly burned his boat with the Prem's top tier clubs, but I see Simeone more in the mould of a Hodgson or a Moyes, than a Conte or a Pepe.
When would Hodgson ever have been seen as a good fit for Arsenal ? As for comparing Simeone to Hodgson and Moyes, as tempted as I am to take the piss, I'm just going to say that you are of course entitled to your opinion
He seems to do it for a few games, then drop off and forget about it. Started the season doing it and then stopped for a while. Maybe Simeone could address that, though.
Don't agree about any manager. If they got an offensive style manager he'd be able to hit the ground running
