Hmm 12:52am post and yes Hoddle is a gimp believes the shift that never started is back on but he claimed that last year......how did that one work out gimp?
Who will replace Wenger? I have seen, today, a media report that lists five candidates to replace Wenger:- Jorge Sampoali Ronald Koeman Diego Simeone Thomas Tuchel Massimo Allegri I am surprise that Eddie Howe's name is not among that lot, as I rate him as probably the best English manager in the league, and more than capable of looking after Arsenal. There are some good names on that list, but as we have seen with Pep, a big foreign name isn't necessarily any guarantee of success. Then again, I'm not sure if Koeman would be the best choice. What is for certain, whoever takes on that job is going to have a very rough ride from Gooners, who will be baying for instant success, and will probably be in no frame of mind to give the poor bastard a chance to settle in.
Simeone would be my first choice. I think he'd instil a die hard attitude that we've been lacking. We have the talent and skill, but we get turned over too easily at times. As for Gooners giving whoever succeeds Wenger a rough ride, I think you are well wide of the mark. We don't hire and fire mangers at Arsenal like they do at Spurs and I think the new manager will be given ample time to settle in and stamp his mark on the club.
He's certainly got Sevilla ticking along nicely, in La Liga. Only 2 points behind Barca and 3 behind Real. Is Arsenal a bigger club than Sevilla? I suspect that, in terms of player abilities, they're on the same level.
Would Gooners be happy to go a less attractive style of football though? I think he'd be a success though for sure.
I would, I know Simeone is more defensively minded. But I think he could blend that with the natural attacking flair that is currently at Arsenal.
Yeah, they were brilliant in the last Copa America. Also thanks to one Alexis Sanchez, who was named player of the tournament
Fair enough, I reckon he'd certainly get you challenging which is what the fans want I suppose. I thought Chelsea would have gone for him tbf. Don't forget Chile in the last WC too.
I don't know about Simeone. I think he flatters to deceive, at times. I doubt he'd be any better in the Prem than either Koeman or Howe. I really rate Howe, to such an extent that if we didn't have Poch, I wouldn't be adverse to seeing him at Spurs.
I thought Chelsea would too, but they've found a great manager in Conte, who I must admit I thought might struggle in the premier league. I reckon the premier league is made for Simeone, tough, fast and at times brutal. I think he could bring just what we need at Arsenal, a die hard attitude, better defensive organisation and instilling the right mentality in the players, along with blending that with the attacking flair that we already have.
As we've seen this season it's the managers who are the most adaptable who can stay the cause in the pl. It is the same as Italy where serie A is an extremely tactical league where you have to adapt. Pep and most recently Klopp have been struggling to tinker their playing styles effectively. Look at ancelotti, he has been managing at the top for well over 15 years and hes one who can really mix it up. Ferguson's adaptability is probably the main reason he was so good, that and Man management
How do you think he flatters to deceive exactly ? Genuinely interested to know why you have that opinion
I agree with most of that tbh and is why I place Ancelloti among the best in the world. I'm not saying he would definitely be a success, just that I'd love to see him have a crack over here and think he'd add something to the league.
I think Simeone is running a bit hot-and-cold with Athletico, this season. it's just an opinion, but I was hoping to see some improvement from him on last season. When was it that Athletico won la liga - 2014? I know it was a massive achievement for the club, and they've not done too badly since, but I'm not convinced that he could offer anything over and above what, for example, Koeman could bring to Arsenal, and Koeman has the advantage of having been in the Prem for a few seasons already. It's just my opinion, of course.
I'd be interested to see saompaoli give it a crack in the PL. You see a lot of his favoured tactics being used this season in the pl like the high press and 3 at the back. He style personifies the south American way, his Chile team were like a pack of rabid dogs
