I eat basically anything that takes my fancy, no holds barred. I drink masses of tea, cook lovely food for the girls, drink beyond the realms of abuse every now and then but as long as everyone's happy and content then job done.. Iv'e been stopping smoking now for the last 2 years but to stand outside for 5 mins every now and then and go into my own world with a nicotine fix is my way of escape for a few moments from my world.. I'm 60 this year, still look as cool as ****, full head of blonde/silver hair, bit of a podge but as hard as a rock and arms to die for I must be doing something right..
I'm similar to Teesside.... Mon-Thur I 'try' to eat well... plenty of healthy chicken & veg Fri, Sat, Sun... I stuff my face like !!!! E.g. Last Saturday I had an 'Atomic' Indian takeaway, followed by a MaccyD's and then @MaradonerKebab was gannin to the kebab shop so I smashed a large donner into me Sunday I had a fry up for brekkie, went to Catterick for a slap up Sunday dinner (inc Massive Chocolate pud), went home & had a spag Bol for me tea I love weekends !!!!!!!
Doing a diet at the moment which involves the following as I had got up to 245lbs....should be around 195lbs with height of 5ft 9ins: Shake in the morning and at lunch which has: Kale Chia seeds Protein mix...Vanilla or Chocolate Fiber plus One of two fats which is Avocado or Almond butter Berries (mixture) Apple Banana Snacks during the day Almonds, blueberries, cucumber, humus Nights Chicken and veggies type of thing Keeping off caffeine and alcohol... Lost 30lbs so far and as diets go not too bad. I'm doing a lot of exercise at the moment with the up and coming marathon. My daughter who had gained a lot of water has been on the Cambridge diet....don't know much about it but has lost over 80lbs. I said what is the secret....she said drink plenty of water....good luck to everyone if your going to try to lose some weight....it's not easy that's for sure......
Great thread, must admit my eating habits can go from good to piggy in no time at all. My current problem is that I used to be a runner so even though I was never skinny I burnt off most of what I ate. I collapsed training for London marathon around this time last year and because of heart tests have been advised not to do any running. It wasn't too bad in the beginning I had a couple months rest and over the summer/autumn walked at least 10km every day and it kept the weight at bay. As it went into winter I've just stopped doing that and I'm now about 10kg heavier than this time last year. Food choices now effect me more than ever but without the cardio it's like I've not got the energy to do much and that includes eating right. Been bouncing around hospital to hospital to get tests but it's probably being overweight that's going to kill me now not my heart ha! I'm about 17.8 stone and even though I'm 6'4" it's still feeling hard to move that round. Probably doing low cardio weights would be the best action for me now, coupled with yoga as I have the flexibility of an icicle! Back to main point though I also used to use Huel a lot so might try to go back to that as it was pretty good at balancing my portions and very easy to make.
Interesting mate, see a dietitian, they'll do you a personalised nutrition plan and you'll stick to it cos it won't be a fad diet, it will be tailored to your personal needs and eventually you'll be able to get back into fitness once your body repairs itself.
One of the problems that anyone trying to follow 'Best Advice' about dieting, is that the advice itself keeps changing. There's hardly a week goes by without some part of The Press announcing a new nutritional breakthrough. And the advice changes. For example I don't have butter as I've 'trained' myself to get used to olive oil spread. But now I read that after all, butter is best for you. On those occasions that I fry, or do chips I use corn oil. This was the best advice (after olive oil). But I saw a programme recently where some boffins had checked various oils AFTER they had been used. Their tests showed that the act of heating changed them into being, in various degree's, high in all the wrong fats. When the anti cholesterol campaign was in full swing I believe that eggs were absolutely forbidden. About a year ago it seems that some bright soul tested eggs only to discover they didn't have any cholesterol in them. It reminds me of the advice that Victorian Doctors used to give to Patients with chest complaints. SMOKE. This will help you to get the phlegm up. To be honest I think we all know what's good and what's bad for us. The problem is usually politely called, 'portion control'. Or to put it another way, It less a case of what you eat as how much you eat. So learn to keep yer gob shut. PS Yes I'm classed as overweight. My BMI has me at just under obese. And I aint giving up cheese for anybody.
