Thanks for that TigersCanada, we certainly do want to know more about where to go in Vancouver as we are still very much in the planning stage, and haven't really set how long we will be in each place. We do intend to spend two stints in Vancouver, just so we aren't flying from Brisbane to Toronto or back again in back to back flights. But any advice on where to visit in any of the areas (Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto) would be awesome. We visited Toronto briefly in December 2015 so only visited a limited amount of stuff, but still enjoyed it in the short time we stayed.
I do like the idea of watching City in a bar (wife can go shopping <cheers>). We did think about doing the Rocky Mountaineer but might save that for another time.

Canada Tiger gave me loads of fantastic advice when we visited California a few years ago. We went to a lot of the places he suggested and made the trip really good (Apart from wishing we had stayed longer in some of the places he told us to go to)...

Heading to Naples in a couple of weeks to do Pompeii and Herculaneum "proper" (been on organised trips before, but only see a fragment).
Another hike up Vesuvius, and visiting Campi Fliegri (the burning fields to the west of Naples, Europes only supervolcano).
    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2016/12/supervolcano-campi-flegrei-stirs-under-naples-italy/
Someone else mentioned diving to see the underwater city of Baia in naples bay....where town slipped under the sea, mosaics and stuff on the sea floor.....would love to do that too but too cold at moment.
Visit to the Naples Archaelogical museum (when Pompeii was uncovered all the good stuff got swiped by Naples)
The three days staying in the heart of Naples should be ......interesting........
Been reading about Naples and the mafia, around 100 clans, with around 10,000 active "members".
Bet it cost them more than £84 quid to join, and more difficult to leave than cancelling your direct debit.

I had a mate in London who came from a Sicilian family, they were major importers of fur to the U.K. (before fur coats were no longer PC) and he had to employ two staff who didn't exist, or the mafia would make his shipments disappear.

Didn't register at first. Must be getting old. This is the high tackle.

Never saw Billy B play for City but did see him once in London when Leeds beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup qtr final in March 1965.

A year later I watched City play Chelsea in London at the same stage of the FA Cup competition drawing 2-2.

Ps. My wife's cousin was married to a guy called Ian Bremner from Millom and they came to visit us here a couple of times. He was a relative of Billy.

Sadly Ian took his own life a few years ago aged 40.

Thank **** it isn't! Short journey for me to some wonderful walks; the dog goes into full herding instinct after about 15mins!

Wasn't crowded at all when I went there. Cant remember the exact time of year, but it was summer and not school holidays. Maybe first week of September.

Word of warning, Askew: In '91 we drove LA to San Fran via Highway 1. Then Yosemite...

You have to drive over a pass from Yosemite, into the next valley (Owens?). Some of the passes are closed until Memorial Day (usually the last Monday in May). The Park Ranger advised us to drive further north (the passes get lower and don't block so easily). I'd not known that but had built in an extra day and we needed it.

As you drive south in Owens, turn off at Lone Pine and head for Death Valley, then on to Vegas. (Take a trip from McCarran Airport to the Grand Canyon).

    - Just suggestions, mate!

If you are driving east out of Yosemite to Lee Vining it is well worth a detour to Bodie Ghost Town before going on to Death Valley and Vegas.

    Wherever you're going, be safe

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Travel advice, particularly on terrorism, makes interesting reading nowadays. Certainly a lot less generic than it used to be

Also be careful having ice in your drinks. Water is sometimes bad for you whereas alcohol has been properly treated so won't harbour bugs. So stick to booze and don't water it down ;)

You'll love it there, we had a couple of weeks in Mojacar a few years ago, it's a beautiful part of the world.
