So what was that conversation last week when I was told that nobody could sign a free agent cos we had to submit our 25 man squads that had to be full?

Yes, its not us. The space will be temporary pending the outcome of the Salibar appeal.

These are the rules, but it doesn't actually mention a cut-off for the January window, so maybe it's different...

Each Premier League team must register a maximum of 25 players over the age of 21 for that season’s first-team league games.

The full squad list must be submitted within 24 hours of the summer transfer window closing, which this year is on Wednesday 31 August.

The squad list can not be amended until the next transfer window opens on Sunday 1 January.

There is an “exceptional circumstances” provision in the event of a goalkeeper injury crisis.

Southampton have so far only named a squad of 23.

That wasn't the conversation. It was stated that nobody could sign anyone, even if they were free agents.

You can add players to the squad til some random date near the end of the season but you can't take any out.

Clubs do not have to name a full squad of 25 if they do not have that many contracted players and in this case they can add free agents outside the transfer window. However if they have 25 eligible contracted players, they must be named.

Thanks. So basically, whoever it was that insisted you cant add any players even if they're free agents and you have to name a full squad of 25 even if that means the kids, was talking absolute bollocks?

The rules as I've posted them are not very detailed and they're all from when the rules came in for the 2010-11 season, I'm not certain that they're 100% accurate.

We've obviously left a space for Salibur in our 25 man squad and it looks like Southampton have left two places free in theirs.

Though the rules though do state that 'if a club has 25 eligible contracted players, they must be named'.

I don't remember anyone saying that. Kids don't have to be registered. You just can't leave senior pros out, if you have space and they can fit in with regards homegrown rules then they have to be included.

Tbh all of the incoming have shown promise .. I'm sure Salibur will be on the horizon for the summer should we survive and Marco remains.. but I have every confidence in Marco getting the best out of what we had and what we have brought in .. still confident of beating the drop with the gifted one in charge

Rough translation of the press release - Confirmation has been received today from the LFP re the contract of Yannis Salibur. The player, who has continued to train with the Guingamp first team, is at the disposal of Antoine Kombouaré and is available to play on Wednesday in Marseilles.

Just as a side issue, I notice that Paul Stretford (the man who's responsible for bringing Silva to City) is now Josh Tymon's agent.

I don't know if that makes it more of less likely that a new deal will be agreed, but I thought I'd put it out there.

He's also Harry Maguire and Alex Bruce's agent (along with many other players).

Who actually ****ed up for this transfer? I assume it must be City (or Ehab)? What was the issue in particular?
