We're selling our best defender.... for less/equal what we paid for him.

We've sold our top goalscorer (Yes he offers little else from midfield, but top goalscorer nonetheless.

We've sold the best striker we've had at the club in about 4-5 years.

We've made last seasons best performer available on a free transfer.

Ashley has made over 40 million in profit.

Are we supposed to be happy with this I ask you?

Well I'm certainly not happy with it (and that's the understatement of the year) but on here it seems I'm in the minority

No, I'd much rather have kept Carroll/Enrique but they didn't want to stay! Not too bothered about Nolan. And agree about Barton, absolutely shocking decision!

The happy clappy 16 year old bairns on here from Cambridge, or Northants or some far flung place, who have never been to Newcastle in their lives, let alone an actual game, seem quite happy with it like, but i suspect that the real fans are far from happy.

The ones i know aren't, anyways.

  8. Yes, they didn't want to stay and they're quality players, so if we're going to ****ing sell them we need to ****ing spend the cash to replace them then!!!

All we've bought is a free striker to replace Carroll. We've spent nothing of the money, and once again Ashley has mugged us.

We're selling our best defender.... for less/equal what we paid for him.-Colo is our best defender as his position is far more important. Also Pieters looks likely. We've sold our top goalscorer (Yes he offers little else from midfield, but top goalscorer nonetheless.-We have signed Ba who scored the same amount of goals as Mandy last season
We've sold the best striker we've had at the club in about 4-5 years.-See above. Ba has the potential to be as good if not better than Carroll
We've made last seasons best performer available on a free transfer. Can't disagree too much on that one however the midfielders we have signed, including Gosling, have already replaced Barton and Nolan and are younger
Ashley has made over 40 million in profit.Say what you like, financially we are in a far better position than we have been in a while. He is still spending (Cabaye/Obertan)

Are we supposed to be happy with this I ask you? Yes. Quit the ****ing doom and gloom, get behind the players we have here and look forward to Saturday!! HWTL

I agree 100% about the money not being spent, we could have got Gameiro if we had wanted to spend more on wages I think, and possibly Gervinho. Then that would have sent a clear message out and mean it would be easier to get a good striker in, one that fits the bill anyway. The quote the other day from Pardew clearly stated that we were selling before we could buy, which is ridiculous with the amount of money we have recently received.

Believe the top goal scorer in question is nolan not carroll and in my opinion carroll already has more to his game than ba despite being 4 years younger

Nah, I'd put Colo above Enrique. And if this transfer has come as a surprise to you then you've been hiding away somewhere very remote for the last year! Also, Pieters looks decent assuming that transfer does happen

We've sold our top goalscorer (Yes he offers little else from midfield, but top goalscorer nonetheless.
Top goalscorer when Carroll was here... Dare I say it, liability from January onwards! He would have been shown up a lot more if Tiote hadn't been beside him

We've sold the best striker we've had at the club in about 4-5 years.
Agree with this one, a striker with non-exploding body parts (i.e. Ba's knees) is an absolute must unless we expect our midfield to score 50-60 goals between them

We've made last seasons best performer available on a free transfer.
Kind of his own doing but agree it's a silly decision which Ashley has undoubtedly made for personal reasons. Can't see him starting every game this season though.

Ashley has made over 40 million in profit.
    Businessmen gonna be businessmen!

Are we supposed to be happy with this I ask you?
Who said anything about having to be happy with it?! People will have differing opinions, some will say it makes business sense, some will purely see the figures and complain about £35m and now £6m not being invested etc, others will look at the signings of Cabeye, Abeid, Ba, Marveux and any potential new signings before the window closes and see that they are improvements on what we've got.

Again, if we had spent £40m on those signings instead of £4m would you be happier? 'Cos that way Ashley wouldn't have made £40m profit.....

I agree with the above. Same view as myself but you put it across a lot better. Also for the Arsenal game on sat they are going to lose Nasri and Fabregas, we are only losing a LB!!

Not over the moon but Enrique wanted to leave. If we can get Peiters in then it's not as bad as first impressions.

We've replaced Nolan with a younger, faster and better player in Cabaye.

Ba isn't like Carroll but there are few young strikers out there who offer what Carroll brings to a team. We still need another though.

Barton is still here. If he's here for the rest of the season then that's fine with me. If he goes, we've got cover on the right hand side with Obertan and Marveaux.

I'm not overly concerned that the club hasn't spent vast sums of cash because the players that have arrived have improved the squad in my opinion. There is a bit more quality in depth in the midfield.

I'll just hope that we can perform well and get to 40 points as quickly as possible.

Don't forget about Ben Arfa either. If he can go the distance this season then we have a truly gifted player to play off the main striker and create havoc in the opposition half.

I think Ba will do enough to replace Carroll and Cabaye will more than replace the lazy Nolan (as much as we all loved him he was a lazy bugger as the season progressed). I do conceed we need another quality striker but Bestie did prove last year he can do it when fit. If we don't get 1 in I won't be happy but its not the end of the world.

Personally i'm happy to be rid of ANY player that doens't want to be here. I'll be disappointed that we've lost there services but i'd rather have someone commited to the team.

I think we had bite to our team last year which made us resilient however, if we'd had more pace last year then we might not have necessarily needed that grit to keep us out of the ****. we'll be a different beast this year and i expect us to play a lot of counter attacking football on the road. we now have the personel to make a fist of winning games rather than trying not to lose them.

No not happy at all. We'd all hope the club would be better run and in a stronger financial position so that good players would want to stay. It just isn't reality and we have to get on with it. The club can't match these guys ambition because we're in debt and for this reason he can't sell the club in its current state. No one will make the mistake he did. He knows this and therefore needs to reduce the debt so that he can get out. We're like an unhappy married couple staying together until the kids have all left home! Its gonna be a bumpy period until he does go and we'll likely stagnate a little or just progress very slowly. Such is life the club will survive.

This is exactly my point and why I have a pet hate of people going on about Ashley making £XXm of profit this window. I think we all agree that the players brought in are of a better calibre than we had before so if are bringing these types of players in, still improving the squad (which is debatable but I believe we have) and making money as well then what is there to moan about?
